Nasal Breathing Tube
Tell me the difference between the plastic thing they put in your nose, an oxygen mask, and a breathing tube?
Levels of help: Each can be used to give a person oxygen. The prongs in the nose are nasal cannula, the mask delivers a higher concentration or oxygen and the breathing tube does the highest. That last intervention, called intubation, is also a way to completely breathe for a person. The intensity of the patient's need determines which is appropriate for a given case. ...Read more

Not really: If you are medically paralyzed, your breathing muscles (mostly the diaphragm) will be weakened. However, most patients are not completely paralyzed for that amount of time and you will be using your normal muscles to breathe. When the tube comes out after a month, you may feel a little weak but you should be able to breathe. The ICU will also help you get stronger before they take the tube out. ...Read more
My brother is 14 and was breathing heavily but wouldn't respond then after a breathing tube was put in started to shake and threw up and moves but isn't awake and slurred his words once, what's going on?
Mech. Ventilation: When you require mechanical ventilation to assist with breathing for a prolonged periods of time, there are clearly compromises in your pulmonary function. Some say that these compromises are irreversible based on past medical history. After prolonged ventilation, it is recommended to increased ability to exercise (rehab) as soon as possible. Why has my uvula turned white after it had been black from being bruised caused by a breathing tube? Is it healing?
ENT: Please see ENT for evaluation. It may be that your uvula is healing much as a black eye will and your immune system has eaten away the hemosiderin from the bruising and left a yellowish tinge you are seeing with a light shining on your uvula. If it is turning white you need to be seen ASAP Good luck. ...Read more

Breathing tube: After a surgery or some kind of procedure done under general anesthesia, the throat is commonly sore as a result of the endotracheal tube, the breathing tube used to protect your airway. Most people will have a scratchy throat for a few days up to a few weeks. If sore throat lasts longer than that, you should have someone take a look to make sure you don't have a more serious problem. ...Read more

Breathing tube: Is used to seal and protect your airway and lungs from stomach acid (which is why you have surgery on empty stomach!) as well as to deliver oxygen and remove co2. The endotracheal tube or laryngeal mask also allow monitoring of gas levels and core temp. I know that this sounds kinda funny but, I've had this feeling in my throat that goes to my end of my rib cage, like a breathing tube.
Strange sensation: Its difficult to tell. You may have gastric reflux. I see you've had extensive GI studies. Why? . You are also on Methadone and may have inhaled airway irritants in the past. Your medical history is likely much more complicated than you report and your symptom too vague to properly describe let alone diagnose. If you are having difficulty breathing, please seek medical attention. ...Read more

Can I have a endotracheal tube inserted while completely awake for nose job to protect airway if I want? Getting nose job done under local anesthesia
Endotracheal tube: Endotracheal tube cannot be inserted when you're fully awake because you would not be able to tolerate anything down your airways without coughing and laryngospasm (spasm of your voicebox). Only when the muscles are paralyzed by anesthetic or when you are out of it due to a respiratory distress you can have endotracheal tube placed. ...Read more

I can blow air out of my ear by pinching my nose and breathing out. With no force, it just flows out of my ear. No pain/injury. Ear tubes 10 yrs ago?
Better check that: Sounds like your eardrum is not making a seal; 10 yrs is a long time. Also, your eustachian tube is not offering much resistance; you might just introduce bacteria into the middle ear - leading to an ear infection. Try not to do that often. Someone should examine your ear, and do tympanometry - puffing air into the ear canal and checking drum function. Make appointment for Otolaryngology. ...Read more
