Why is my pulse pressure narrow? Bp ranges from 99/77 hr93 100/71 hr 84 99/73 hr 83 109/79 hr89 all taken within a few minutes of each other. Dangerous?
Margin of error: When taking blood pressure it is important to remember that all cuff measurements will have potential for slight variability. 99/77 ; 100/71 really aren't out of sync with each other. Also remember repeatedly inflating a BP cuff over the same spot in a short time span can artificially effect the results. ...Read more
What is a normal pulse pressure ? What is to narrow and what is to wide? Sometimes my pp is 25-35 and sometimes its 45-65. 25-35 standing and 45-65 llying down.
Same as elevated BP: Widened pulse pressure is a marker of cardiovascular mortality. Must be evaluated in context of other "blood pressures" systolic, diastolic and mean bp. Must figure personal characteristics such as height and known atherosclerotic stiffness. If pulse pressure is 120 you must have HTN and this should be treated down to goal. Once that is done your pulse pressure may not be elevated at all. ...Read more
It depends: As in what the cause of a low/narrow pulse pressure is. Extremely low pulse pressures like you mention can be related to congestive heart failure, shock, aortic stenosis(narrow of the major outlet valve of the heart) or other things like fluid around the heart affecting how the heart pumps(cardiac tamponade). In the end, this can lead to poor blood flow of the organ systems of the body. ...Read more
