Blood test showed folic acid level that my doc said was "higher than he thought was possible". I can't recall exact numbers. Should i be concerned?

Blood test showed folic acid level that my doc said was "higher than he thought was possible". I can't recall exact numbers. Should i be concerned?

No need for concern: High Folic Acid levels either indicate that you are taking a lot of Folic Acid through your diet and/or vitamins or you cannot process Folic Acid and so it builds up to high levels in the blood. This can be due to a genetic abnormality called mthfr, which can be tested through a regular blood test. Treatment is usually a different form of Folic Acid called methylfolate along with methylb12. ...Read more

Could you please describe how fatty acids are absorbed and transported?

Could you please describe how fatty acids are absorbed and transported?

Quite a process: Hi. Fats (triglycerides) are broken down in the intestines to fatty acids and monoglycerides, emulsified in bile acids, transported to gut wall, absorbed, re-esterified into triglycerides, packaged into chylomicron particles, transported in intestinal lymph to the blood, then circulate. Lipases break down the chylomicron triglycerides, and they're taken into cells. The chylo remnant goes to liver! ...Read more

Can i safely take succinic acid to help with menopausal symptoms, especially weight gain? I take a multi-vitamin and cranberry supplement daily.

Can i safely take succinic acid to help with menopausal symptoms, especially weight gain? I take a multi-vitamin and cranberry supplement daily.

Safe but not proven : I know of no evidence that succinic acid helps with weight gain related to menopause. It is a component of amberen, which claims to have studies showing it helps hot flashes, headaches & anxiety, but even they don't claim their studies show it helps weight loss. I am skeptical about it helping but it seems safe to try (though I am concerned it contains msg). See comment:. ...Read more
