Both hypo and hyper thyroidism are included in the list of conditions. of course, there are a whole lot of other symptoms associated with both of these conditions. If you feel that you might have a thyroid condition you should follow up with your family doctor. ...Read more

Hi. Trying to get piece of acrylic nail off nail bed. Nothing works. Filed nails & now that piece of fake nail seems attached to nail bed . Tips?
Bandaid and topical: The best treatment would be to get the wound assessed by a doctor. With that said if the there are no lacerations in the nail bed and the rest of the nail is attached firmly, no treatment would be necessary except for maybe a bandaid with topical antibiotic cream for a few days. If the nail is loose it may need to be taken off by a doctor or it may fall off on its own soon. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

8 month old got debris from hardwood flooring - not actually wood but hardened top coat- lodged between nail and nail bed. Attempt to remove from dr who used nail bed raiser just pushed it further. Can I just let it grow out? No pain.
Options: One option may be letting it work its way out if there is no infection., The other is to have it surgically removed by creating a small V in the nail and directly removing it in an exposed position.. Forceps have a tendency to advance foreign bodies. Keep the area clean and make sure immunizations are current. All the best. ...Read more
Broke big toe on 8/12. Detached toenail. Skin is falling off in sheets from ALL toes on the foot. No cast. Walking boot, now surgical shoe. Why?
Quit Sloughing off.: Skin sloughing, particularly after a period of immobilization and departure from one's daily bathing routine, is almost a given when the immobilization and swelling end. Layers of dead skin cells that are normally sloughed during one's daily routine have piled up and are revealed as these skin "sheets". 15 month old fell off bed hit edge of piano leg. 1/2 inch cut to back curve of head. Bled a lot but stopped. Playful for hours. Now asleep. Worry?
Should be fine: If you are concerned-allow a wake up time in the next hour or 2 to see if your toddler arouses normally. This sounds like a low risk head injury that should improve as the next 24 to 48 hrs evolve. Tend to the cut/laceration to the scalp with soap and water and neosporin/bacitracin oinment. Serious head injuries would be hearalded by loss of consciousness, fussiness, unconsolable, nausea/vomiting. ...Read more
