Has any one prescribed relafen (nabumetone) for knee pain related to arthritis?

Relafin: Relafen (nabumetone) belongs to a group of drugs called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (nsaids). It works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body. There is no one drug that is effective for everyone when it comes to joint pain so please consult with your physician.

Thank you! Could you give me your opinion of which works best and is safer with the least chance of negative side effects: mobic, (meloxicam) relafen or voltaren?

Even odds: These are all members of the NSAID family. They all have about the same potential for side effects such as stomach irritation or possibly some salt and water retention (edema). There are some small studies that suggest that diclofenac might have slightly better analgesic effect but they all have fairly equivalent anti-inflammation properties.

Is it safe to take nabumetone with ibuprofen for pain?

Not together: Taking two non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can cause gastritis, gastric ulcer, including gastric perforation. So, in general, the answer is no. On the other hand, assumning a single dose of Ibuprofen (800mg), with its half-life of nearly two hours, should be "completely" eliminated in 10 hours. Nabumetone, however, has a half-life of 20-24 hours is not "completely" elimininated for 5 day.

Back pain: There are many different pathologies that can cause back pain like a spinal compression fracture, spinal stenosis, lumbar muscle strain or herniated discs. I would get to a medical doctor for an evaluation soon, especially if the pain is still present after 2 months. Additionally, speak with your physician about Nabumetone as taking a lot of that over a long period may cause kidney damage.

Sclerosing injection: Why are you putting up with the pain when you can see a podiatrist have a series of 4-7 sclerosing injections and be done with the pain? Sclerosing injections are anhydrous alcohol injections that dehydrate, hence removeing the conductive layer on the nerve known as myelin and will stop the pain forever.

Can I take nabumetone after its expired?

I would not: Some drugs can be dangerous past their expiration dates. Others like Nabumetone typically just lose their potency. As Nabumetone should be relatively inexpensive (it is a generic rx), I wouldn't take a drug if I needed it and be unsure if it would help.
