Side effects: NAC is very safe for most people. It should not be used if you have asthma or a history of asthma or if you have a bleeding disorder as it can impair clotting. Is it safe to take alpa lipoic acid, n-acetyl l-cysteine (nac) and milk thistle when prescribed quetiapine? The supplements i take for my liver.
Probably safe: Please speak with your own physician about this first. There are no problems with alpha-lipoic acid or nac and quetiapine, but there's a possible interaction with milk thistle. There's contradictory evidence aboutit increasing, decreasing, or having no effect on the liver enzyme system that processes quetiapine. In 1 human study milk thistle didn't affect these enzymes -- so with caution, ok. ...Read more

I take n-acetyl-cysteine, is this okay to take daily - I am a heavy smoker cutting down and it seems to help my lungs (pain, mild mucus, breathless)?
While on levlen ED i had no side effects as soon as i switched over to Yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) i had fatigue moody angry and emotional but Yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) is lower dose than levlen?
Different progestero: There are two different hormones in bcp. Though Yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) has less estrogen than levlen, Yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) has a different progesterone. When women have mood swings on bcp it is usually from the type of progesterone. Sounds like you feel better on the hormones in levlen, and it is a good bcp. Go back to it, or speak with your doc about a pill with the same Progesterone as levlen. ...Read more

This is common: Medications have many serious but uncommon side effects. When you take 2, there is always a potential for interactions, some also serious. Care providers should discuss the common. Most pharmacts give a comprehensive (often scary) list of the uncommon. Ask your prescriber or pharmacist how likely you are to have the problems that concern you and notify them if you experience one. ...Read more
On 1000mg of Lithium a day, my blood levels were 0.44 mmol/L (0.3-1.3). Last 2 days I'm on 1500mg and still no benefits or side effects. Is this weird?
Ans: You're taking lithium, Concerta, aripiprazole and Lamotrigine, which interact to cause side effects and make clinical picture hard to understand. Why are you taking two mood stabilizers? Also, Concerta (dose unknown) can trigger mania/hypomania. Hard to interpret lithium level with limited clinical information. Review meds with prescribing doctor to simplify regimen if possible. Hope this helps. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
