All insurers should: Major insurance companies have drug plans. The insurance companies can have their own plan, or contract with a separate company to run a drug plan. Other groups, such as aarp, may have a plan (but again, they contract with a separate company to run the plan). Plans have benefits for local retail pharmacies to handle short-term prescriptions, and mail-order pharmacies for 90-day prescriptions. ...Read more
Lower LDL-C goal: Wow! that's a pretty deep/involved question. Treating to new targets (tnt) was announced/published in 2005. The idea was to see if more aggressive treatment of cholesterol (aiming for lower goals) would improve outcomes. Indeed it appears that aiming for goal LDL <70mg/dl leads to lower risk of cardiac events in stable heart disease. Read more at http://www.Theheart.Org/article/399675.Do. ...Read more
Is lipo ex fda approved"? I find many different opinions. Look here: http://www.Lipoadvisor.Com/lipo-ex
Yes, but...: Fda approval for medical devices means something quite different than it does for drugs. Fda device approval only requires a fairly minimal review. It does not entail the kind of detailed safety and effectiveness studies that are required for drugs. The fact that a device is fda approved means little about whether it works or is a good idea. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Fatigue studies (CFS?): Merit of mitochondrial tests e.g. ATP-ATP, ANT/AAC, Mg-ATP, mito. O2 util., Zn/Cu-SOD, Mn-SOD, GSHPx? Any viable treatments?
No proven Rx: CFS remains a puzzling problem and there is no specific test to pinpoint the cause. I have a feeling that your tests were ordered by someone not in traditional medicine . There are many ways people with CFS may obtain relief but supplements (if that doctor wants to sell you some ) are not likely to offer proven benefits. . ...Read more
Uncertain: I disagree with some aspects of recommended treatments such as coffee enemas for detoxification purposes. I find no convincing studies proving benefit. In general, a working liver and healthy kidneys take care of detoxification quite admirably. Talking with people who have undergone treatment and discussing with various physicians and perhaps getting a second opinion would be worthwhile. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Neurologist and author, David Perlmutter, claims that gluten causes Alzheimer's. Can someone provide journal references on research that proves this?
Fully disagree: There is NO solid evidence anywhere that gluten causes Alzheimer's disease, and there is NO relationship with Celiac disease and dementia, but Celiac disease does cause a Peripheral Small Fibre Neuropathy. We have some anecdotal cases of gluten sensitivity affecting MS indirectly, and maybe transient worsening of other conditions, but no Alzheimer's links. ...Read more
