Mibi scan shows diffuse reversible ischemia in keeping with angina?

Mibi scan shows diffuse reversible ischemia in keeping with angina?

Heart disease: Angina means chest pain caused by the heart. This usually comes from clogged arteries. As the arteries initially clog, blood can still get around the blockage and is reversible. This can eventually progress to a worsening blockage where blood can't get around it. This usually results in what is known as a heart attack. Reversible is good but it's important to prevent it from getting worse. ...Read more

Would Cardiac stress perfusion scan MRA highlight Pulmonary Hypertension if this was present?

Would Cardiac stress perfusion scan MRA highlight Pulmonary Hypertension if this was present?

Probably not: A cardiac echo/Doppler study would show pulmonary HTN changes by viewing the right ventricular function , size and pressure. There are additonsl studies that can also be done. It is very important to know WHY you have Pulmonary HTN. If due chronic Pulmonary embolism it is a serious situation for which there exists very effective Rx. Other causes can also be treated. Consult your doc. ...Read more

Could a cta chest scan with IV contrast detect problems with the heart?

Could a cta chest scan with IV contrast detect problems with the heart?

Not best: Test for heart but sometimes we see things like coronary artery disease and large atrial septal defects. Aortic valve disease can sometimes be seen. Best to have appropriate test for the portion of the heart your doc is worried about. ...Read more

Does a myocardial perfusion scan show blockage in the heart?

Does a myocardial perfusion scan show blockage in the heart?

Blood Perfusion: The angiogram shows anatomic blockage of coronary arteries. The myocardial perfusion scan shows blood flow to the heart. Blood flow can get past large blockages (shown on angiography) if there are enough small, collateral vessels present. ...Read more

Could a chest Ct scan with contrast, stress echo, cardiac MRI w/CO, 3d echo twice, miss a blocked artery CAD? Done by mayo clinic AZ.Have chest pain.

Could a chest Ct scan with contrast, stress echo, cardiac MRI w/CO, 3d echo twice, miss a blocked artery CAD? Done by mayo clinic AZ.Have chest pain.

Unlikely: If you are 26 then a blocked coronary would be very rare unless there is a significant predisposing condition. But regardless that work up is extensive and thorough so doubtful that is the cause of chest pain. ...Read more

What this means?

Myocardial perfusion imaging with Tc-99m Sestamibi after exercise
revealed no scintigraphic evidence of hemodynamically significant
ischemia. Medium-sized, mid to basal inferior wall
mild-to-moderate mostly fixed perfusion deficit, excep

Stress test: A stress test with myocardial perfusion imaging is a way of detecting whether the heart muscle is getting insufficient blood supply because of coronary artery disease. It can be normal even with lots of coronary plaque, because it only detects severe narrowings. If there is a "fixed" perfusion defect that generally suggests a scar in the heart muscle from prior heart attack. Need more info. ...Read more

Spect images demonstrate inferior and apical reversibility from my nuclear stress test. Is a cardiac catherization must be done?

Spect images demonstrate inferior and apical reversibility from my nuclear stress test. Is a cardiac catherization must be done?

Not enough data...: Inferior ; apical reversibility means there is some ischemia in those regions. Without seeing the images it is difficult to tell how much. If there is very mild ischemia, some cardiologists may decide to do medical management (only medicines). If there is any significant amount of ischemia, cardiac catheterization is usually done. Again, it depends on the clinical scenario..Not enough data. ...Read more

Can dexilant cause chest pain? had cardiac ct scan, wore a monitor, blood work, chest X-ray, abdominal MRI, and Hida scan. All good. No stress test.

Not usually, as....: Dexilant is usually Rx'd for Acid indigestion/GERD and can be used to Treat "heart burn" that may be caused by increased acid secretion conditions. That being said, it is important to continue to have Cardiac reasons ruled out for your chest pain and follow-up with the Dr. as if the Dexilant is not helping, it may be another reason for your chest issues, best wishes. ...Read more

Ct scan showed Small vessel Ischemia. Cardioglogist quadruppled beta blocker after EKG. How does the ischemia effect my Kidney disease(stage 4)?

Ct scan showed Small vessel Ischemia. Cardioglogist quadruppled beta blocker after EKG. How does the ischemia effect my Kidney disease(stage 4)?

Vessels in both: Without an actual exam, I can't give specific medical advice on your particular health. Same things affect vessels EVERYWHERE. So, while strokes, or heart attacks don't hit the kidney. The same bad vessels are in all organs. Hi BP, diabetes, and cholesterol all clog vessels everywhere and affect all the organs (heart, brain, kidney). Treatable. Or such bad heart disease, no blood gets to kidney. ...Read more

Is it safe to smoke after a myocardial perfusion scan thallium scan cardiac nuclear imaging?

Is it safe to smoke after a myocardial perfusion scan thallium scan cardiac nuclear imaging?

Well...: Since you had a cardiac nuclear scan, I assume your doctors were looking for coronary artery disease. You seem to be a smoker, which makes artery disease worse. So smoking is not a good thing for you, and you should try to stop. Having said that, you are probably not in any more immediate risk for heart problem for smoking after the nuclear exam. Long term risks are greater with smoking. ...Read more
