W/ close monitoring: Prescribing carbamazepine (CBZ) with almost anything can be challenging as it induces all CYP450 pathways. Mybulen contains 3 separate drugs, which can all be affected by CBZ. CBZ can lead to accumulation of acetaminophen's toxic metabolite NAPQI & also generally ↑ risk of liver damage. It can ↑ levels of morphine (a more potent 2° metabolite of codeine) & ↓ levels of ibuprofen. ...Read more

Discontinued in US: I'm surprised you can even get this nowadays. It is a topical anti fungal (nystatin) but is also has a corticosteroid cream (triamcinolone) that is an effective anti-inflammatory med. It's usually used for fungal skin infections (tinea corpus) with secondary inflammation. You can't or shouldn't use it vaginally. If used in skin areas, call your doc if there's no improvement in 3-4 days. Take care. ...Read more

Miconazole: Topical antifungal used twice a day and continued for 10 days after all skin manifestations of infection have cleared is the recommended treatment. The rapidity of clearance will obviously depend upon the severity of the condition, the organism causing it and its sensitivity to miconazole, your immune status and a variety of other variables. Be patient. ...Read more

I have seborrheic dermatitis... Should Biorga Mycogel be applied every day or 2-3 times a week? Can this harm me if applied too much?
Use real medicine : That stuff is zinc and trade tree oil. It's no wonder it is not working. Seborrheic dermatitis should respond to simple stuff like blue dandruff shampoo used often on your scalp, or try it elsewhere, and you can experiment with sulfur, coal tar, or see if your physician will give you some ketoconazole. ...Read more

Safe but...: The concept of safety is relative. Mycolog cream will not affect the intercourse, but will most likely not make it pleasant for both you and your partner. Traces of cream will get on his penis and in case of oral sex in his mouth or in your mouth if his penis is smeared with it. I just don't think it's going to be an experience you will look forward to in the future. ...Read more

Pls can u advice of name of any cough serups that don't upset/effect stomach, chronic cough, my dr gave me mycodyn and it messes up stomach?
Honey: While Codeine is probably the best cough suppressant it does cause side-effects in many patients and can't be used. Dextromethorphan can be tried (dm) or a teaspoon of honey may help. It may be better to diagnose why you are coughing and find a more specific treatment depending on the reason for the cough. ...Read more

A monthl or so ago I took mycelex for possible oral thrush and since around that time my uvula touches my tounge ?
May still be Infxn:
Is your uvula painful and red? If so, it is most likely a uvulitis (inflamed uvula). Since the uvula is suspended from the top of your mouth, any inflammation can cause it to hang down more than usual. Sometimes it can even touch the tongue. Have you been back to your medical provider, since being prescribed the Mycelex? Have the other symptoms in your mouth resolved? If not, I recommend going back to your medical provider for additional assessment, since you may have some other type of infection that needs to be treated.
If your uvula is swollen and pale/translucent them you could have something that’s known as uvular hydrops. Its considered translucent if you could easily shine a light through it (but please don’t try shining a light through your uvula). Uvular hydrops occurs when clear fluid collects in your uvula, most commonly a result of either a moderate to severe allergic reaction or something that’s called hereditary angioedema (very rare, typically caused by an enzyme deficiency and shows up when you are given certain medications, like an ACE Inhibitor, which is a blood pressure medication, and sometimes NSAIDs, like Motrin/Ibuprofen/Advil/Naproxen). If this is the first time this has ever happened, it is most likely not hereditary angioedema. Most times we are unable to determine the cause of uvular hydrops, termed Idiopathic Uvular Hydrops. Uvular hydrops is a self-limiting condition, meaning it will go away on its own and you don’t need any medications to treat it.
Whichever one this may be, the most important thing to remember, is that a swollen uvula can block off your airway, making it difficult to breath. I don’t want to frighten you, but I just want you to be aware that in RARE cases, this can occur. If your uvula starts becoming more swollen, seek medical care immediately (ie. go to an Emergency Department). If you are having trouble swallowing solid foods, at the very least, stay hydrated with water, diluted Gatorade, etc; and you can also try supplement shakes for calories (drinks like Ensure or the equivalent).
If you have no change within the next 3-5 days, I recommend seeing your medical provider for further assessment/treatment. If this worsens, I recommend going to an emergency department.
Good luck and please don’t hesitate to contact us again with any further questions or concerns.

I threw up an hour after taking mybulen capsules and auroxime tablets. They are antibiotics prescribed by my doctor. What could all this mean?
GI upset: You have a known side effect of the antibiotics which is gastro intestinal upset. You can take phenergan, (promethazine) compazine, Benadryl which may reduce nausea and vomiting. Reglan may also prevent nausea. If these medicines do not prevent nausea, then stopping the antibiotics and place you on another antibiotic may help. ...Read more
Does mycolog II cream cure a yeast infection or is it just used for temporary relief? And if so how long will it take to cure a yeast infection?
Yeast "infection": Technically, vaginal yeast "infection" is an overgrowth problem because the natural balance between lactobacilli & yeast has been upset; common causes are antibiotics (kill the lactobacilli), diabetes (more food for the yeast), frequent douching, etc. Mycolog helps decrease the amount of yeast to restore the balance. Many variables determine how long to restore this balance/"cure the infection". ...Read more

2mth baby has oral and anal mycoses, I feel itching and redness under nipples bcoz im breastfeeding, can I continue nursing her or I should stop?
Continue but treat: I assume you are talking about thrush and diaper rash. You should be treating these as per your doctor. Your nipples should also be treated, but assuming you've discussed treatment options and proper cleaning with your doctor, you should continue breast feeding unless the pain is prohibitive. ...Read more
