The patch could be: eczema or atopic dermatitis, both due to very dry skin and perhaps allergies. As you suggest, dryness is the main culprit. It may burn because the skin is so dry that there are actually microscopic cuts/breaks in it which burn when chemicals applied. Many lotions have alcohols or acids (glycolic, azaelaic, lactic) that are irritating. Humidify, hydrate, use sensitive skin lotions/creams. ...Read more

The front area of my right wrist hurts whenever I pushed myself up (like from a push up position). It gives a burning sensation when it hurts.

Carpal tunnel: Possibly carpal tunnel, especially if you are prone to performing repetitive action with that wrist. Compression and irritation of the nerve results in the sort of symptoms you are describing. See a hand specialist. ...Read more
