Titration of a: stimulant medication to an optimal dose requires weekly communication between prescriber & patient, if an adult. Parents & teachers send me weekly follow-up questionnaires on which they document severity of ADHD symptoms mornings & afternoons during titration, reporting an " average day" during that week. Your doctor will ^ your dose by 10 mg./week to 70 mg., the maximum adult dose of Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine). ...Read more
What is an average mg of Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) for a 6'3 175lbs male. I am taking 40mg but it is not working very well. Also, is Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) the least side effect med?
No "average" dose:
I never base anti-add med dosing on size, age or gender. The dose needs to be titrated until it is the right "size" for your brain, for your life. Keep working with a md expert in add management.
Vyvanse is an excellent med for many, but it may or may not be the best med for you. Side effects need to be minimized, not accepted. Again, keep working with md til you get the treatment effect you need. ...Read more

The body's system that regulates many such automatic responses works on a feedback mechanism, so equilibrium of these functions is achieved after initiating medication. If you monitor heart rate closely, for example on a treadmill or elliptical, you will likely find very little difference in pre & post-medication rates.
As usual, check with your doctor for any perceived symptoms. ...Read more
My doctor put me on Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) today. But I still felt sleepy at work and fell asleep. I'm so placebo I never know if it's working. Is it the dosage?
Yes: If you just started, the doctor probably gave you a low dose to make sure you do not get side effects or an allergic reaction. If it was 20 mg as stated above that is a starting dose and vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) can be increased soon. I do not know what you mean by placebo, but obviously if you don't notice it working then it is not a placebo. Stick with it and wait to maximize the dose. It can go as high as 60 mg. ...Read more
I was prescribed 40 mg vyvanse, but I'm really scared to take it because I don't like things that change the way I think.
What makes up Vyvanse other than its active compound? In other words, what additional compounds or elements, chemicals, 'inerts' etc are in the drug?
Vyvanse is a prodrug: Its chemical structure consists of dextroamphetamine coupled with the essential amino acid, L-lysine, called Lisdexamfetamine (L-lysine-dextroamphetamine). It must be converted in the body to the active stimulant, dextroamphetamine. It is useful for treatment of ADHD because the time necessary for the body to convert it allows it to be active much longer than dextroamphetamine itself. ...Read more
