I need advice.My child 8 mounths old.Her diagnosis gastroesofagus reflux.Now she has a hoarse voice, voimiting.We use ranitidin.What foods I can give ?

Reflux: Thicken her foods, never over feed, offer small more frequent feeds, do not feed her lying down. Have her eat more solids. It generally improves once babies have the ability to sit alone. If you think she is getting worse also consider food allergies and have her evaluated by a GI specialist. ...Read more

See ENT: The facial swelling might be due to steroids even though this would be uncommon side effect from a short-term high dose quick taper of steroids. If your hoarseness was caused by vocal cord edema, you would have noticed some improvement. Now, you should have an ENT look at your vocal cords directly with a special camera in the clinic to determine the cause. ...Read more

See ENT: Based on your history, i would highly recommend that you see an ENT (otolaryngology-head and neck surgeon). The ENT will perform a complete head and neck examination including an office endoscopy to examine your vocal cords. The primary purpose is to rule out cancer of the vocal cords. For a couple years have had right shoulder blade pain off and on, cruching sound, and now for the past month a hoarse voice. Related? What is wrong?

Shoulder pain/hoarse: Your shoulder symptoms sound like scapular dysfunction. The muscles that support and move the shoulder blade are complex and work in very close association with the rest of your shoulder to allow proper movement of the shoulder. I cannot put the hoarseness together with that. A good physical therapy program esp for scapular dysfunction should help the shoulder. Hope this helps. Good luck. ...Read more
