My Tsh Level Is Low
My TSH level is 9.1, what does it means? do i have hyper or hypo thyroid? & my ESR level is 60, does this ESR level came high becoz of high TSH level?
Hypothyroidism: The actual thyroid hormone is T4 and t3 (liothyronine). When they are low, TSH elevates, but how high is somewhat variable, and "high tsh" per se is not dangerous. A low t4/t3 (liothyronine) can be dangerous; TSH is a good marker of thyroid function, but often it is necessary to measure ft4 or t3 (liothyronine). A mild elevation of TSH (eg. 4-10) is often without any symptoms and a normal ft4. ...Read more
Does a very low level TSH hormone mean hypo - or hyperthyroidism? T3 (liothyronine) is normal range, T4 is at the low level borderline.
Low TSH: Generally indicates an excess in thyroid hormone. That may be chronic w/hyperthyroidism -- or temporary w/thyroid inflammation. See you doctor. If you're already on thyroid replacement, the dose is too high. If you're on t3, (liothyronine) get off of it as it can be dangerous and doesn't work well as chronic replacement. Use brand name T4 only. ...Read more
My T3 (liothyronine) level is 172 ng/dl and T4 level is 8.7 microgram/dl. TSH level is 0.4 Is my thyroid report is normal?
TSH 320: This value is very high. It means that your thyroid gland is seriously underactive. There are potentially serious consequences of underactive thyroid gland. Evaluation and correction is essential. It takes considerable time. I hope you are receiving care and are already on thyroid hormone replacement therapy. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My a.M. Cortisol serum is routinely 35+ (range 9-21), but low dose suppression test was normal. Tsh is slightly high, T3 (liothyronine) is elevated too. Causes?
Oral contraceptive: The most likely explanation for these findings is being on an oral contraceptive (yaz). This raises the cortisol binding protein level, making the total cortisol level look high, but the biologically active cortisol is normal. The same thing happens for thyroid hormone, including T3 (liothyronine) levels. If you have hashimotos and your TSH is high, you have mild hypothyroidism. ...Read more
My androstenedione level is very high. But my testosterone and dheas levels are normal. What does this indicate?
Yes,,: These are technically "normal" values with fT4 normal range being 9-18 pmol/L while TSH is about 0.3-3.0 uIU/mL, though this last range can vary. Best of luck. ...Read more
High TSH: A TSH of 6 is only slightly high. If you feel well, you may not need to do anything. If your TSH continues to rise and your ft4 falls, they your thyroid is probably failing and you should begin taking levothyroxine. Iodine deficiency can cause a goiter and elevated tsh, but i-deficiency is very rare; i is plentiful in our diet in many forms. ...Read more
What can cause low triglyceride levels and low thyrotropin levels? My triglyceride level is 42 and my thyrotropin level is 1.04. Results from 4.5.14
Normal: Hi. That thyrotropin (TSH) is normal, not low. It suggests you have normal thyroid function (assuming you have normal pituitary function). And your triglycerides at face value would just suggest you're very insulin-sensitive (a good thing), although genetic influences are certainly possible. To your good health! ...Read more
Many possibilities: A very high prolactin could be from a pituitary adenoma, which is usually treated with medications. Often there are minor elevations in prolactin, and this can be from many other causes. Certain medications, nipple stimulation (eg jogging), hypothyroidism, postpartum. Why was it measured? Infertility, irreg menses (women) or low libido (men)? Your endocrinologist can help you with this. ...Read more
Thyroid blood test: normal tsh, and normal t 4, slightly lower free t3 (liothyronine). What is a normal TSH level?
0.4-4.5: In most labs, the normal TSH ranges between 0.4 and 4.5. Most people have TSH levels under 2.5. One can still be normal with higher TSH levels, but if you have hypothyroid symptoms, a mildly high TSH could be a sign of developing hypothyroidism. Free T3 (liothyronine) levels are not accurate in many labs, so a slightly low level may be meaningless. You should see an endocrinologist if you have symptoms. ...Read more

Only slightly low: Do you have heavy menstrual bleeding or other blood loss? Your Dr may wish to check other tests and may investigate for sources of blood loss.
