I have ticklish, annoying pain shooting through right side teeth. My dentist says this is referred pain from my wisdom tooth, what is that?

I have ticklish, annoying pain shooting through right side teeth. My dentist says this is referred pain from my wisdom tooth, what is that?

Misleading: Referred pain is when an apparent discomfort is caused by a problem elsewhere. I've seen situations when a painful upper molar with no apparent pathology resolves completely when a lower molar lesion is restored. I've also seen patients have their teeth extracted with no resulting pain relief when the underlying problem was neurological. Accurate diagnosis in the presence of referred pain is tough. ...Read more

I had right side tooth, cheek and head pain. Dentist said no problem with teeth, root or nerve. It is because of stress. Now only filling tooth is pain?

What is the ?: What is causing the pain? Could be stress. To relieve stress we often grind our teeth, usually picking on one tooth. Could be a cracked tooth. Cracks are hard to diagnose, are not seen on x- rays. Could be from sinus infection. Common enough this time of year. How long has this pain been going on? Did you have a filling recently? What makes the pain feel better or worse? Answers would be helpful. ...Read more

Get it examined: You don't say if your dentist has examined you, but the dentist isn't someone to visit just when you have a problem. Things like this can most often be prevented by regular care, so get to the dentist asap for exam& xrays, and make it a regular practice in order to prevent more complicated dental problems from occurring.
