It's possible you have a simple viral infection (like a cold), you should be checked for streptococcal pharyngitis (strep throat) and infectious mononucleosis (mono). Could be.: If it goes away with the treatment for strep, then you have your answer. If it does not, get another culture to see if strep is still present, although it may be if you are a carrier.
