A few things: You could have bit your tongue, there maybe a salivary gland issue in this area or a growth may be present. I hope you don't have any fractured or sharp teeth that could bruise your tongue. See a dentist for an evaluation. ...Read more

Pharyngitis: I would suspect that you are suffering from pharyngitis an inflammation of the lymphoid tissues and lining of the mouth. There is a ring of these tissues that line the back of the mouth... tonsils, adenoids and base of the tongue. It is likely a reaction to a bacterial or viral infection. I have scaly skin on both sides of my tongue. Doesn't look inflamed just ugly. Don't know how long. Been around, hand, ft, mouth disease recently. ?

Normal: The sides of the tongue are normally scaly / bumpy looking. Hand foot and m disease does not present like that usually. However, keep an eye on things and see a doc if symptoms change. ...Read more

Potential explanatio: Red spots on the back of the throat could be petechiae, or little bruises. These occur from trauma. Maybe back off from any oral activities you may be partaking in. White tongue could very well be related to the hairlike projections that grow on the tongue. Try brushing it more. Tonsils swelling is a normal immune response to any kind of infection.
