14 month old toddler delayed speech(acts like he wants to).if he does he wont repeat it, delayed walking (just starting).38 lb.born with larygomalasia?

Delayed: Laryngomalacia is not by itself a cause of any speech or other developmental delay. It is a problem with the stiffness of the upper windpipe not how the vocal cords work. Fourteen months is at the far end of the normal range for walking. He should be making recognizable sounds & use a few words. How can I help my child who is 15 months and not walking yet?

How can I help my child who is 15 months and not walking yet?

Be patient: The cdc recommends getting an evaluation if a child is not walking at 18 mos. Of age. I would suggest giving your child a bit more time before worrying. Remember that while there are some definite problems, most kids simply develop at their own pace (which has little to do with how they end up). You can always discuss it with your child's doctor or nurse practitioner if you are still worried. ...Read more

I've been in bed for a month cause i've been off balance and no dr knows what's wrong. Walking gives me anxiety. Would laying around linger imbalance?

Exactly 1 month?: Did you start to feel "off balance" before or after you became bedbound? Lying in bed excessively will cause deconditioning to occur in several different bodily systems including the vestibular or "balance system" so the longer it takes to figure this out the worse your equilibrium could become. Have you seen a neurologist? Are you anxious walking due to fear of falling or passing out? ...Read more

If a child is not walking at 14 months, should it be worrisome, and what may be the cause?

I'd watch for now: I use 15 m as my outer limit for the skill of independent walking. This assumes that a 14 m kid is pulling up & crusing on furnature. If neither are present i would procede with a developmental evaluation at a child study center.By definition a small percentage of normal kids don't walk untill 15 m, kids with emerguing developmental pbs from a variety of reasons will be evident at this point. ...Read more
