My Thyroid Levels Were Checked Just Recent And My Tsh Was 208 And My T4 Was 14 Could This Be Causing The Anxiety Feeling What Is Protocol
My thyroid levels were checked just recent and my TSH was 2.08 and my T4 was 14. Could this be causing the anxiety feeling? What is protocol?
TBG: Total T4 isn't a very useful test. Any female taking birth control pills, for example, could have an elevated T4 because thyroid binding globulin might increase. A free T4 would be much more helpful. With a normal tsh, it isn't likely that you're hyperthyroid. Elevations in thyroid hormone levels should suppress TSH in people with primary hyperthyroidism. ...Read more

I've been feeling really tired lately, been suffering from anxiety, i had thyroid test done T4 was 1.10 and Tsh was 7.570 also have psoriasis, any help?
Discuss more with Dr: You are hypo (low) thyroid and this can produce your symptoms. Also, people with psoriasis can have more complicated symptoms that have to do with auto-immunity and occasionally joint pain. This will usually be accompanied by fatigue. Depression is always possible but rule these out first. ...Read more
TSH tested 4-5 times. TSH normal 3 out of 5. Elevated twice (4.0 andd 7.0). T4 normal. What could cause this? I have anxiety. Mom had thyroid cancer.
Thyroid Testing: If one is interested in evalauting thyroid funciton Free T4 needs to also be checked. TSH is not a test for thyroid cancer (Thyroglobulin is the blood test for evaluating thyroid cancer). This could be what is known as the euthroid sick syndrome: in otherwors, other ilness can alter TSH levels while maintaing normal thyroid funciton. ...Read more
Experiencing fatigue, no motivation and anxiety. Had my thyroid checked. My TSH was .91 and Free T4 was .88. Iso this normal or secondary hypothyroidi?
Need more info: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, your symptoms are not likely to be due to thyroid. What you described suggests depression and you may wish to seek care from a doctor, especially a psychiatrist. There are effective treatments for this disorder. Depression is not a moral failing; it is just another health disorder that can be treated. ...Read more

Can vitamins with biotin affect thyroid test? I take vitamins with biotin and lab shows T4 1.9 TSH .07. I feel fine but anxiety waiting to see endo.
I had ok thyroid tests recently. We added 0.5x0.1mg to stop me feeling tired all the time. New tests = tsh: 24, t4: 15. Could it be caused by stress?
No: For the labs described above, you need better endocrine care. (what are the units?). ...Read more
I'm 32 years old female. Recently I checked my thyroid and found my TSH level as 57.6 and t3, (liothyronine) T4 are normal. Please suggest.
Hypothyroidism: That TSH level is very high, consistent with hypothyroidism. It is unclear why the t3 (liothyronine) and T4 are normal with such a high tsh, so the levels should be repeated to ensure there is no lab error, and add a free t3 (liothyronine) and a free T4 to the tests, and consider adding thyroid antibodies to determine autoimmune thyroid condition. ...Read more
We have case, femal patien, age 60 years, the TSH less than 0.05 while T4 in normal range, and she has not any symptom of thyroidism, is it ok?
Subclinical hyperthy: A low TSH with a normal T4 and no symptoms is usually subclinical hyperthyroidism. She may have a multinodular goiter that is autonomously functioning, or very early graves disease. A T3 (liothyronine) level and free T4 level should be checked. There is a higher risk of developing atrial fibrillation despite the normal T4 level, but many endocrinologists would just follow her levels for progression. ...Read more
If my tsh low, t3 (liothyronine) and t4 is normal, is it hypo or hyper thyroidism? Should I take iodine? Ultra sound is normal, without pathology.
Hypothyroid: The answer to this question depends on what your exact levels are and what type of symptoms you have. "Subclinical Hypothyroidsim" sometimes presents in the manner you describe. ...Read more
Thyroid levels: TSH 6.620,T4 1.13 & T3 (liothyronine) is 2.3. I'm on 125 L- thyroxine 5 days. My doctor said take it 7 days. Will this help? Feeling low energy
What causes the TSH to be high? My TSH was 5.4 and my T4 was 7.6. No other thyroid tests were given. Doc put me on levothyroxine50mg says I'm hypo.
Hypothyroidism.: In hypothyroidism, TSH is high because it is a reaction to thyroid hormone/free thyroid hormone being low. The hypothyroid can be due to many causes, but this is the main effect. Your TSH is slightly high at 5.4 (normal 0.4 – 5.0 mu/l) and your T4 is apparently low (normal 64 – 154 nmol/l), so your dr. Treated you with thyroid replacement. You should visit your dr. Routinely for check-up. ...Read more
My TSH is a little low. T4 is a little high. I can't take the thyroid meds. Will a partial thyroidectomy help? (feeling very sick)
Possibly.: If you can't take thyroid meds, surgery or radioactive iodine ablation are useful. In fact radioactive iodine ablation is effective, with 40-70% of patients becoming hypothyroid after its administration. You might want to just observe since your T4 and your TSH are only slightly high and low respectively, and you might still have normal function. It would be best to see your doctor to decide. ...Read more
Would TSH 5.4 and T4 7.6 be considered mild or severe? What test would my doctor have to do to know what caused my thyroid to be low?
Mild; repeat test: In most assays, the T4 is normal, and TSH slightly elevated. This could be nothing; sometimes a repeat test will come back normal. The question to ask: is your thyroid gland starting to fail? If so, it is early. Family history? Do you have symptoms? Positive anti-TPO antibodies? If you have symptoms and if there is evidence that your thyroid is failing, you should start on levothyroxine. ...Read more

Could eltroxen 200 cause weight loss from 64to 60 during 1 year after thyroid remove? My TSH is .03 free T4 is 1.8 (.8-1.5) I had hurthel adenoma
High dose: 200 mcg of thyroid hormone is too much for most people. The low TSH and high free T4 confirm that you need to be on less thyroid medication. If your primary doctor does not know what to do, you should see an endocrinologist. Weight loss can occur when you are too much medication. Also, palpitations, weakening of the bones, trouble sleeping, shakiness, and other hyperthyroid symptoms. ...Read more
My TSH level was 6.5 on my tests but my other thyroid tests came normal (t3 (liothyronine) and T4 I believe) what does this mean? And what could be causing this?
See below: T3 (liothyronine) and T4 can be normal if your protein level is high. These are total T3 (liothyronine) and T4 levels. Both hormones are transported on proteins. So, if your TSH is high, your doctor should be running a free T4 (not protein bound) to confirm that your thyroid level really is low. Otherwise, there are a few other reasons just the TSH can be high. ...Read more
My thyroid stim. Hormone value is 1.680? Is that good or bad? Should I ask for a T3 (liothyronine) T4 test just to be sure cause I heard the TSH isn't always accruate?
TSH accurate: Tsh is the most sensitive indicator of thyroid function. If it is normal (as yours is), it is highly unlikely that you have a problem with your thyroid. There are rare problems of the pituitary gland in which the TSH is not an accurate test. In that case a free T4 level is helpful. Despite what you may read on the internet, T4 and t3 (liothyronine) levels are usually only helpful if the TSH is abnormal. ...Read more
Tsh tests between 18 and 25. Over 8 months. T3 (liothyronine) and t4 good. Could there be underlying cause? Total thyroid removal 2014. Doc increased thyroxine
What do you suggest if my thyroid tested. The results were high TSH but normal T3 (liothyronine) and t4. I also didn't test for antibodies. What could cause this?
High TSH: This suggests the thyroid is in the early stages of "failing". T4/T3 has not fallen, yet, but the pituitary TSH is working harder to stimulate the thyroid. First, repeat the TSH to make sure not lab error. Do you have hypothyroid symptoms? The cause is probably Hashimotos, even if abs negative. Talk to your doc about whether you need to start levothyroxine. ...Read more
I got my thyroid tested and the results were high tsh, but normal T3 (liothyronine) and t4. I also didn't test for antibodies. What could have caused these results?
Still can be:
Repeat and see endocrinologist.
I have a 3.5cm thyroid nodule with lower neck swelling, but normal TSH, T3, T4 blood levels. What could be causing this?
Goiter or Cancer?: A Thyroud mass can be benign in which case it is called a Goiter. There is about 10% risk that it can be a cancer. You should see your physician for further trests such as an ultrasound and or a Needle biopsy. Blood tests only show if your thyoid functions are normal or not. Since these are normal, you now need to go to the next step of further evaluation to find the cause of your Thyroid nodule. ...Read more

Hi my daughter 8. 5 years old has suddenly gained waight of 10 kg with in 6months she is 37 k thyroid test TSH shows 47 t3, (liothyronine) T4 normal what is cause?
May be thyroid : This may be early hypothyroid. The high TSH means that the body is producing more stimulating hormone to keep the T3 (liothyronine) and T4 in normal range. This can overstress the system and eventually lead to lower thyroid levels. This should be evaluated by a pediatric endocrinologist (specialist in hormone issues). ...Read more
What can cause thyroid symptoms normal testing T4 free 1.26 and TSH .316! Cold (iron) normal, hair breakage, period changes, weight loss 20lbs in 5m?
Many things: Thyroid is not the cause for everything that happens in your body. Your TSH is slightly low; it could be a recent bout of thyroiditis which caused some or all of your problems, but you doctor will need to look beyond the thyroid. ...Read more
Tsh 5.4, T4 7.6 plus low red blood cell count, high ldl, hdl, vldl & triglycerides r high. What other test can tell me what caused my thyroid to stop?
It doesn't matter: A test of antithyroid antibodies may suggest that thyroiditis caused your decline in thyroid level, but it doesn't matter since the appropriate therapy is brand name T4 replacement, no matter what the cause. Also, your minimal level of thyroid deficiency is insufficient to cause you lipid abnormalities. Look for other causes, such as genetics, weight, diet, inactivity, etc. ...Read more
High tsh- 5.5. Normal free T3 (liothyronine) & t4. Also, normal total t3& t4. What causes this? Pituitary gland issue not thyroid?
May be normal: All lab results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Your TSH is at the upper end of normal and may be normal for you. You may discuss the issue of repeating the test in a year or so. ...Read more
What can cause low TSH of its not a Thyroid or pituitary problem? 0.01 TSH T3 (liothyronine) and T4 free normal, graves and hasmitos negative
2 possibilities: Hi. First of all, Hashimoto's doesn't cause a suppressed TSH, and YES, your TSH is SUPPRESSED, not "low", because your free T4 and total T3 (liothyronine) are "normal". A low TSH (pituitary defect) would cause low free T4 and possibly/probably low T3 (liothyronine). The most likely is a "hot" thyroid nodule (autonomously hyper-functioning); second most likely would be a phase of subacute thyroiditis. Follow over time to tell. ...Read more
