My tendon is popped over my wrist bone and causing pain and numbness. Is this something serious?

It can be: Sometimes the prominence of the tendon over the wrist is normal and is not dangerous. Other times if the tendon is snapping over the bone especially after an injury on someone with arthritis this can lead to tendon problems. Doctor can evaluate: If the end of the bone looks and feels bigger, without any pain or other symptoms, nor a history of trauma, then a primary care doctor can evaluate and check for a joint problem. He may consider doing an x-ray to see if there is a bone cyst or bone tumor there. ...Read more

What's could be wrong with my wrist? I fractured (chipped) the bone by my wrist and I've been having problems with it since. I believe it has to do with it being out for two weeks after it happened. Could I have done something to the tendons and ligaments

What's could be wrong with my wrist? I fractured (chipped) the bone by my wrist and I've been having problems with it since. I believe it has to do with it being out for two weeks after it happened. Could I have done something to the tendons and ligaments

There: There are so many variables in this question that it is hard to be very precise. There are many bones in the wrist, and it is very significant which bone, precisely is chipped. When you say it was "out" for two weeks, do you mean that it was dislocated for two weeks? A bone chip on x-ray often means that a ligament was pulled off the bone, taking a piece of the bone with it. It is a bad circumstance if the ligament has pulled off a bone chip and the x-ray shows it to be separated by a distance from the bone, because in this case the ligament/bone chip cannot ever heal back to the bone without surgery, and the associated joint is apt to be lax and pop, clunk, grind, or be painfully unstable. This needs to be seen by an appropriate surgeon. It sounds like something which, at the very least, needs initial splinting/casting for 6 weeks and then re-examination. The probable need for future surgery is high. ...Read more

The: The most common "bone chip" is a small capsular avulsion on the ulnar side of the wrist. These can be casted but can also be trated with splinting alone. These often take 4-6 weeks to feel better. A chip or avulsion does mean that the bone was pulled off or avulsed by the ligament or tendon that attaches to it.

Other chips involve the scaphoid or trapezoid and other bones, it depends a lot upon what the injury actually is to say more.

A chip can also mean the wrist was dislocated and reduced or that a significant ligament injury occurred...But again the most common thing os a small insignificant capsular avulsion and 2 weeks is s short time for recovery.

If you merely went to an er perhaps it is time to see a hand surgeon. ...Read more

Wearing my carpel tunnel splint but the numbness n pain has worsen. Now my entire arm is in pain n my wrist keeps popping n making cracking noises.

Wrong splint?: If you are wearing the splint and you are getting popping or cracking noises in the wrist, then it is not likely immobilizing the wrist and not helping. Also, carpal tunnel doesn't cause popping or cracking in the wrist. If your numbness is getting worse, then best to have the hand evaluated by a hand surgeon and possibly tested with an emg/ncv study. ...Read more

Wrist has been swollen for 3 days. Pain on day 1 starting @ pinky & going down wrist. @ times it feels like a knife running down my wrist bone.

Wrist swelling: Wrist swelling in absence of acute injury is consistent with arthritis. The little finger involvement is unusual but the nerve could be impinged or one of its joints could also be inflamed. Apply cold applications and, if you can take them, anti-inflammatory medications like Advil or Aleve should reduce swelling and inflammation. If symptoms persist see your MD who will order appropriate tests. ...Read more

Name of bones in wrist bone under middle figer at end of thum in wrist sticking out could it be broke and what is its name can you help me please thank you

"Could: "could it be broke". Did you fall or otherwise have a high-energy injury? If not then, no it cannot be broken.

If it feels broken, that is probably a misinterpretation of the pain. Pain always triggers and sets off our "safety system", making us feels protective and causing us to prepare for the worst ("it feels broken").

It's interesting that you want a name. Humans crave control and I assume you feel that if you could name the painful bone that you could feel a soothing sense of control.

I suggest that a visit to a hand surgeon is in order. He or she will likely tell you several things you are not expecting to hear. Even though most or all of them will be good news, just the fact that they are unexpected or counter-intuitive can make them a little unwelcome, so prepare yourself. Be ready for the "safety system" to have called "fire" when there is just smoke. Be prepared for something you find convincing ("it's broke") to be incorrect. ...Read more
