Check For Eggs: Pinworms can be seen in stool however many people do not see them until treatment has begun and passage of dead worms begins. Worms can be seen in anal folds 2-3 hrs after sleeping however another way is to check for eggs if you suspect infection: touch anal area to sticky side of transparent tape, then take tape to doctor for microscopic exam. Collect specimens for 3 mornings before bathing. ...Read more

What could be the cause for my 19 month old to have stone like stool? And what can I give her to easy her pooping or stool

What could be the cause for my 19 month old to have stone like stool? And what can I give her to easy her pooping or stool

Hard to guess: Each child with constipation needs to be sure there is no other disease causing it. A pediatrician's evaluation is needed. We do not want a child to get chronic constipation. If constipation is due to slow movement of food and poop through the gut, then things to try are vegetables, water, prune juice, prunes, fiber-plus-water, Miralax (polyethylene glycol), senna extract, milk of magnesia, etc... ...Read more

Was drinking raw milk and it seems that I can't pass stools as easily feeling of gas that won't come out should I stop drinking it?

Yes: The rule of thumb is whatever bothers you, stop eating or doing it. Most intestinal problem from dairy is from lactose intolerance but then this should occur with pasteurized milk as well. I can only guess that there may be some bacteria present in the raw milk causing your intestinal symptoms. Raw milk has been linked to multiple infections and there is no proven health benefit from it. ...Read more

Full too easily, bloated feeling on left side under ribs an sternum. Pain and discomfort in certain positions. On iron sup. Loose stool. Causes?

Multiple things: The spleen is under the ribs on the left. If it is enlarged which can be from mononucleosis, different blood and liver problems it may feel bloated. The stomach is near there and can cause symptoms, especially if there is a hiatal hernia. The ribs can become inflamed and hurt. The large bowel can kink with gas (splenic flexure syndrome) I am concerned about the iron- why? Ask about hemochromatosis. ...Read more
