My Sputum Smells Disgusting
I wake up with a mouth filled with disgusting yellow-whitish sputum that smells horrible. Is this a sign of pneumonia?
Possibly: Most of the time, pneumonia with a lot of mucus has cough along with it. People with underlying COPD or tuberculosis can cough up phlegm and long-term sinus problems can cause drainage in the mouth, especially in the morning. Sputum has foul smell. Not coughing otherwise, no cold, no fever. Do have sinus allergies at certain times of year. ?
Several possibles: There are several possibilities for bad odors. First, are you certain it's your sputum that has the odor. I'd ramp up my oral hygiene including flossing, gargle to loosen any food particles stuck in throat, use a Neti Pot to rinse your sinuses daily, and see if these improve things in the next 2 weeks.
