Most likely muscular: In origin but can also be related to small joints of the spine known as facet joints that are found 2 per each level of the spine and can cause popping similar in nature to cracking your knuckles. I'm 20, and i wanna use a brace to straighten up my postural kyphosis, some say it's too late. So, is it gonna work or just deform more my spine ?

Shouldn't : Bone scans pick up increased metabolic activity, and are not affected by structural abnormalities such as scoliosis. ...Read more

Thoracic spine pain: Pain while bending forward is due to either the discs or stretching the muscles ( more likely at your age) . X-rays only show the bony structure. Only an MRI can show the discs properly. Try some stretching exercises gently but if the pain persists beyond 4-6 days, get proper evaluation. ...Read more

X-rays are not all defining and sometimes other tests are more sensitive.
