My Spine Burns
A specialty: Severe burns, especially in children, should be treated at a burn center. The main principles are to replace fluids, excise and graft 3rd degree burns early and prevent and treat infection. Less severe burns can often be treated as an outpatient with topical mild antiseptic creams. They should be managed by a general or plastic surgeon. ...Read more
What happens if you had a nerve block/ESI with metallic particulates when you undergo 2 MRI's in 5 day period? Can it cause burns/holes in the spine?
It depends.: In general "nerve blocks" or ESI (Epidural Steroid Injections) are not performed with "metallic particulates." Unless specifically cleared, MRIs can not be performed in individuals who have metal in their system because the magnet may cause motion or movement of the metal and surrounding tissues damage. Concern regarding a contaminated ESI, should be discussed with the provider who performed ESI ...Read more

Feels familiar?: Hi Elle, What you describe is not specific enough to say whether this is IIH or migraine. As a headache specialist, I see many patients with IIH who continue to have headaches despite optimal management of intracranial pressure with acetazolamide. See your neurologist if the headaches you have now are worse in the morning, associated with double/blurry vision or ringing in the ears. Feel better ...Read more

The lower, center of the back of my head feels like there's an injury (long cut) and burns, but there's nothing topical. What could this be?
Possible shingles: If only on one side of head it could be shingles from prior chicken pox. This commonly presents as an uncomfortable skin sensation before the rash shows.
