See your eye doctor: This is likely not a cause for concern. After a trauma to the eye, it is common for blood vessels in the white of the eye to break. This looks worse than it is. However, you should see an eye doctor to make sure you didn't suffer any more serious injury. ...Read more

Eyeball scratch: Anytime there is a break in the integrity of the skin there is the potential for an infection developing. You can get antibiotic eye drops. If your hands were just in the dirt in the ground that would be more worrisome than if you had been sitting in an easy chair reading. ...Read more

Hi, my 2 year old ran right into my forhead with a toy and I have a huge soft bump on my forehead, should I go see a doc or is that normal? Thank you

Not much to worry: These soft bumps are quite common after head injuries that u described. Nothing much to worry about. If there is some bleeding inside the bump it may make skin around your eyes discolored because of blood seeping into the eyelids due to gravity. Some danger signals to look out for are : vomiting, severe headaches, blurred vision, which shd prompt you to see medical attention should they occur. ...Read more

Conjunctival hem.: If this is on the white of the eye, it is probably a subconjunctival hemorrhage, which is a usually spontaneous hemorrhage underneath the lining of the white of the eye. It is usually painless or only mildly irritated, and often is present upon awakening in the morning. Coughing, straining, rubbing can also cause this. They usually clear within a few days. See your doctor if you are not sure. ...Read more

I have floaters and started seeing a green spot in my left eyes vision and a red one in my right eye. I only see them when looking to my left or right?

Floaters to look for: Floaters are usually nothing to worry about -- most people have some. But they can be a sign of inflammation in the eye or sometimes a sign of a retinal tear. If they are worsening or associated with lightning-like flashes of light then they should be checked out. Or if you are seeing lights in the center of your vision with floaters, that should be checked by an ophthalmologist as well. ...Read more

Everytime I look to the left then right with my eyes real quick I see a black flash with my left eye?

Everytime I look to the left then right with my eyes real quick I see a black flash with my left eye?

Interesting: I would suspect a "floater" in the fluid that fiils the eyeball. There also complex circuitry in the brain affecting your perception of vision as the eyes move quickly, so if you do this fast enough, maybe you're overriding the system. If any other symptoms such as pain, double vision, blurry vision; certainly consider an appointment for a complete eye exam and visual field assessment. ...Read more

I just suddenly started to see a huge black circle /spot in the middle of my eye and i can't see well now everything i see is all dark. Is this seriou?

Yes, very serious!: It is usual for someone at age 28 to develop a vitreous detachment. More commonly, it is a retinal detachment. No matter what, this is most likely a retinal issue and needs urgent evaluation. Please do not delay, you need to see an ophthalmologist (not an optometrist) preferably! ...Read more

I woke up this morning with a discharge around my eye and half of my eye was slightly red.Is this pink eye and will I be able to go to my Christmas party tomorrow?

Just be careful: Conjunctivitis (pink eye) usually is due to common cold viruses, and prevention is the same: no kissing (even a social peck on the cheek), no shared cups or utensils, cover coughs and sneezes, limited hand contact with others, and very freqent hand washing or alcohol gel. It's different in young kids, e.g. day care, because at that age hygiene and preventing spread are impossible. ...Read more
