My son 4 poked himself in the eye today with a small sharp peice of plastic wire no marks or blood, if it penetrated would i know? Would it bleed?

My son 4 poked himself in the eye today with a small sharp peice of plastic wire no marks or blood, if it penetrated would i know? Would it bleed?

Not neccessarily: I would be be much happier as an ophthalmologist if the child was screaming or complaining. Corneal abrasions hurt. Injuries to the white of the can be painful or not. Penetrating injuries even with a piece of plastic that is described as ""sharp" cause me great concern about potential puncture wounds that can be devastating. The child needs urgent evaluation by a child friendly ophthalmologist. ...Read more

See Neurologist: Sounds like your son had a seizure. It also sounds like he had a lot of tests, some not done in emergency room (EEG, sleep study). The doctor who tested him or a neurologist in your area should discuss the findings and help you decide what is wrong and what to do. Sometimes tests reported "normal" can tell us things. To find a neurologist, call your local hospital or medical society. ...Read more

I have a small blood blister above my eye. I don't like it. How can I remove it.?

Skin lesion: The lesion you describe is probably a nevus(mole). I could also be a cherry angioma. I do not recommend you attemp removal requires surgical intervention. If truley a blood filled blister caused by trauma will resolve with no intervention. ...Read more

I sufferd a black eye on christmas, a few days later some blood started to apear in my mucus when i blow my nose, will this go away with time?

See your doctor: the black eye is generally due to superficial skin and under the skin bleeding related to an injury. However the bloody mucus suggests you may have sustained some trauma to the nasal cavity and/ sinuses. You should get it checked out. Please be careful with how you sustained the initial injury! Best wishes to you! ...Read more

Hyphema: If you experienced eye trauma and you have a Hyphema you need to see an eye doctor as soon as possible. This could compromise your vision if it is indeed a Hyphema. Good luck. https://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/001021.htm ...Read more

Was throwing up w/ stomach flu, broke a blood vessel in eye, now 3 days later i have a small blind/blank spot in peripheral vision of that eye? Thnx

Unrelated: Sounds like the broken vessel in the eye an the blak spot in the peripheral vision are not related. The latter might be related to the "stomach flu". Need to see eye doctor and check visual field and other work up. ...Read more

How fast can I make my blood shot eyes go away?

Depends on the cause: Blood shot eye, also called red eye is a non-specific term to describe an eye that appears red due to illness or injury, ranging from dry eyes, or allergies to much more serious things such as bacterial infections. Do symptoms like blood shot eyes go away quickly?

Do symptoms like blood shot eyes go away quickly?

It depends: Bloodshot eyes caused by a subconjunctival hemorrhage can take up to 2 weeks or longer to go away. If the eye is pink (inflammation, allergy, infection), it may improve quickly with the appropriate treatment. A trip to the eye doctor can help sort out what is going on and how best to treat it. ...Read more

I have had a blood shot eye for about 15 years. Is it a busted vessel? Is there anything that could make it go away?

I have had a blood shot eye for about 15 years. Is it a busted vessel? Is there anything that could make it go away?

Extra vessels: Actual bleeding will disappear in a week or so so you do not have a 'busted' vessel.. For fifteen years of redness, you probably have an extra set of vessels on the eye surface. So your eyes look red compared to others. You can confirm this by applying a "gets the red out drop" and see if it whitens up. These can be cosmetically diminished with laser treatment. ...Read more

Someone just told me i had blood in my eye. Small circle , should I be concerned ? No one hit me there or anything

Hemorrhage: With no symptoms and no history of eye trauma, the most likely possibility is a subconjunctival hemorrhage - a slight leak of blood from a weak walled vein under the conjunctiva. These can be from coughing, straining, rubbing the eye, or simply an unknown cause. It will rapidly fade and cause no harm. If the vision is fine and there is no pain you can wait a week or so for it to fade. ...Read more
