My son is three months old and has a cough, kind of mucus sounding and is really tired and sneezing. No fever. What can I do?

Congested cough: At 3mo the primary cause of congestion/cough are irritants. House dust, fragrance, perfumes, detergent or cleaning products all leave scents that don't bother adults but irritate a babies nose. A good nasal clean out with saline can remove much of this irritant load, but removing the offending irritants from babies life helps more in the long run.Irritants aggravate colds ; nasal wash helps. ...Read more

13yr old son , croupy cough for three weeks also has mucous on amox/clav, prednisone, Bromfed dm, xopenex (levalbuterol) but no major improvemnet can this be pnemoni
?

Unlikely: The fact that the cough is croupy indicates that the vocal cords are involved. However, given the lack of response to a multitude of treatments makes me wonder if the cough could be whooping cough. Obviously your son has seen a physician, but i would suggest the possibility of whooping cough. The diagnosis can be made by checking pertussis antibody titers. ...Read more

Why doesn't my son's cough go away?

Why doesn't my son's cough go away?

Chronic cough: This needs to be addressed with your Pediatrician as there can be several causes - asthma, acid reflux, post nasal drip, exposure to toxins like smoking to name a few. Until you can get in to see your MD use a cool mist humidifier at night, warm water/honey to soothe and observe to see if you can identify any worsening triggers.

My son has had a real bad chesty flemmy cough for a week now?

See your doctor : The symptom of a chest cold/cough with phlegm could be a sign of a simple viral illness or a sign of something more serious. I'd suggest taking your son to see your pediatrician or family physician to rule out potentially serious conditions such as pneumonia. ...Read more

My son is 1month and 1week old he have a cough what medicine can give? Thanks

My son is 1month and 1week old he have a cough what medicine can give? Thanks

No meds: The first months are troubled by narrow nasal passages & exposure to dust, fragrances, smoke & other irritants.Baby tries to flush these out of the nose with mucous but this often ends as congestion &cough& produces rattling with breathing. The best rx is washing out the nose with saline & suctioning the remainder. Eliminate irritants from babies environment & this will happen less. ...Read more
