My daughter has lupus & arthritis one of meds is hydrocodone for pain. Her husband refuses to let her take them. What can she do shes in so much pain?

Lupus and great pain: Very potentially serious disease, but I have never had to manage sle with hydrocodone. Don't believe lupus per se needs the drug. Some complications of therapy, such as avascular necrosis might this, but this would be uncommon. Make sure your daughter is being managed by a rheumatologist! ...Read more

My mother suffers from schizophrenia and doesn't take her medicines and also she doesn't agree to visit a doctor what should I do? I am worried!

Not unusual: Sometimes people have unrealistic fears about medications or maybe she has had bad experiences with the side effects of medications. A good place to start would be with some education. Perhaps your health care provider would agree to a consultation session with your mother just for educational purposes where her concerns and options could be addressed. Good luck! ...Read more

Should i be concerned if my mother has chronic dry eyes and some nights her eyes hurt/purn does anyone know what she can do for this besides drops?

Dry eyes!: Start with artificial tears routinely (one drop 4 times a day every day), oral omega-3's, and warm compresses. Next, medicated drops (restasis, mild steroid drops, NSAID drops) or punctal occlusion may be helpful. A humidifier in the home may be helpful. Omega 3's work most for my patients. Systane night time gel also. ...Read more

Fever? Chills? Nausea? Do you drink coffee tea or energy drinks? Are you on any medication? Way too many questions about your history to come up with any reasonable potential diagnosis. ...Read more
