Is it possible for me to get rid of a sinus infection without antibiotcs ?

Is it possible for me to get rid of a sinus infection without antibiotcs ?

It depends: That depends on whether you have a sinus infection or a cold. How long have you had symptoms? Most sinus infections are caused by colds. A cold is a viral infection, and antibiotics won't help. A sinus infection is a complication of a cold, and generally takes 10 to 14 days to develop. Don't wait longer than 3 weeks for an antibiotic, and seek help immediately for neckstiffness, eye swelling. ...Read more

Have sinus infection. On antiobiotics for the last 5 days. Both ears blocked. What can I do to unblock ears?

Can take time!: Sinus infections are stubborn, and can take a while to treat. As you've found, your ears may feel blocked, too. Using Normal Saline nose drops can help. Over-the-counter saline sprays are marketed as "simply sinus" or "little noses" - marketed for kids. Guaifeniscen (sold as the brand mucinex) can loosen secretions and make you more comfortable. See your doctor if the ear blockage persists. ...Read more

This : This is likely due to eustachian tube problems caused by the sinus infection. The antibiotics will clear the infection and help with the inflammation. The nasal spray is possible a steroid spray to decrease inflammation, or a decongestant to decrease edema. The positional component to the symptoms could be due to mucous in the middle ear. Sometimes ear symptoms take a while to clear even after the sinus issues are over. ...Read more

Husband on amox generic for seven days for sinus infection...Took last pill 7 days ago. As of last night, has fever 103.3. Felt better after starting amox. Does he need a different type of antiobiotic? Time for er?

Typically : Typically sinus infections are treated for a minimum of ten days. If he is still having fever after 7 days then the antibiotics were not sufficient to cover his infection or the treatment was not long enough. He needs to be reevaluated. He should follow up with his primary care provider, if he is unable, an urgent care is a good choice. Good luck. ...Read more

If : If her pain is persisting even with pain medication, then she needs to go back to her primary for a follow up and a change in medication. By the date of this post almost a week has passed, so hopefully she is better by now, so for you and anyone reading this post no one should ever have to deal with excrutiating pain, especially because it can mean something more serious is going on. Always seek medical help in situations like this. ...Read more
