My Roommate Barely Speaks To Me He Brings Girls In To Spend The Night And Throws Condoms On The Floor What Should I Do
My roommate barely speaks to me. He brings girls in to spend the night and throws condoms on the floor. What should I do?
Talk to him.: There is nothing more frustrating when a roommate is disrespectful about living quarters (and the throwing condoms on the floor... Who does that?!) you won't get peace until you politely but firmly ask him not to do it. His behavior won't change magically by itself, and you'll just get more and more frustrated if you don't bring it up. If he doesn't respect your wishes, time for a new roommate. ...Read more

My boyfriend has MRSA and I am wondering what to wash his linens with to kill the bacteria? Also if they're letting him out of the hospital do you think it is okay for me and my 3 year old to spend the night at his house or are we still at risk?
It's not EBOLA: MRSA is a common bacteria that can be found almost anywhere. It is on floors, door handles, shopping carts, etc. It is found in 70% of the pustules or abscesses treated as outpatients.Perhaps knowing he had an infection with it will remind you to wash your hands more. You are at risk of MRSA every day. Try not to treat him like an EBOLA carrier. Good regular hand washing should be enough. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
How do you potty train a difficult child? Our son turned 4 in november, and is still in pullups. He will sit on the toilet and pee right before his bath, but refuses to poop on the toilet, and will not tell us when he has to go other than to sit on the to
Boys : Boys do tend to potty train later than girls. I hear terms like "difficult child" and "refuses to poop". My guess is that he picks up on this vibe as well. Sometimes if pushed too hard, a child will push back or will hold back. How about reading the "potty book" to him. There are some wonderful potty videos that are fun for kids to watch. If you can make this fun and get him invested, he may be more likely to play along. If he is pressured and faces anger, he is more likely to hold on to it. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I have a 3 months baby who only keep his ahead to one side of the body to the right side and look like is heavy for him. What di when i carry him on his car sit his ahead is always hanging even if i put support for his ahead
You : You should call your child's doctor and have him examined. If he has always held his head to one side, it could be something common such as congenital torticollis or "wryneck". This is caused by stiffening of neck muscles due to the positioning of the head in the womb and can be improved over time with some simple exercises your doctor or a physical therapist can show you. I attached a website with information below. If this is something new that you have just noticed, then you should call his doctor right away to rule out a more serious cause. Good luck! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My daughter is 7 months & cries a lot when I put her down in her crib to sleep and throws herself around. Shes not use to sleeping alone. What do I do?
Train her: Crying is the only way kids can tell you their opinion at this age. Crying is not harmful to babies who don't have a history of heart or brain problems. So have a soothing bedtime ritual then put her down and walk away. Let her cry it out even if it is for 1-2 hrs this will gradually decrease over a day or two and she will be trained. Most important is not to let her see you when she is crying. ...Read more
My son holds in his urine and poop when I try to make him sit at the potty, what can I do to fix this?
Try another tack: Rehersal is an important part of potty training & learning where equipment is & practicing diaper off sitting is important early in the process. After a toddler acquires these skills it is time to back off and become the potty assistant, not the potty commander. Tell baby you will help them when they need to go and mean it. Let them pick the time & respond immediately. They may need help only once. ...Read more
When i go to bed, a particular song keeps coming in my mind, and as a result, i cant fall asleep in time. What should i do to 'shut down' my brain ?
Insomnia: can be difficult to treat. You are likely not ready to go to sleep ( my guess is you force yourself to bed early so you can wake up early for work or school ) One way to combat this is to " pull an all nighter" on the weekend. The next day you'll run out of steam and get sleepy early. If the music persists try a white noise generator at night. ...Read more
What do you suggest if my wife is abusive and wants to put her hands on me in front of my kids.what should I do?
I'm in love with my best friend but he doesn't know it. The problem is, when I go around to his house and meet up with him I feel very nervous. How can I control this anxiety and tell him as a 20 year old guy?
My 17 month old likes holding onto the cords to our lamps. I have to peel her hands off of it. What are the chances she could get electrocuted?
My son is two going on three weeks old when can he go sit outside on the porch in the shade.Someone mention colic to me so i don't know what's safe fo?
Careful w exposure: There's no magic age. You need to be careful about exposure: no direct sunlight because he can burn easily; no direct contact with people with colds or unwashed hands; no overheating because of risk of dehydration. Colic isn't really relevant. Not contagious & he'll develop it or he won't (usually by around 6 weeks). Congratulations and good luck. It's an adventure! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

It : It sounds as though your daughter may have a skin infection with abscesses or "boils". These usually start out as tender, red areas which become hard and then eventually develop a "head" of white pus. Once this drains, the area usually heals on its own. Most of these are caused by staphylococcus aureas, a common bacteria found on the skin. Occasionally, however, the can be caused by mrsa, the antibiotic resistent kind of staph bacteria. Next time your daughter develops one of these infections, start out by applying warm compresses to the area to help draw the infection out. Then, you should take her to her doctor so that they can drain it, test for what bacteria is causing it and be able to treat her appropriately - sometimes with antibiotics, sometimes just with drainage. If she ever develops fever, chills, or feels ill with this infection, call her doctor immediately. You can try and prevent these infections by practicing good hygiene and using anti-bacterial soaps. Her doctor may have other suggestions for prevention. ...Read more
Do I need to wake my 3 week old up in the middle of the night to eat if he doesn't wake himself up?
Maybe, but...: It might be ok as long as your baby has been seen by their pediatrician in the last week & received a good bill of health--gaining weight, alert & active. But without seeing the baby, & until they're seen by their doc, I'd recommend waking them every 4 hours to feed. While it's likely ok, not waking to feed can be a sign of lethargy, illness, or neurologic impairment, and can lead to dehydration. ...Read more

The : The symptoms you describe are "near-syncope" and "syncope" these are concerning symptoms because they signify a sudden drop in blood pressure, which decreases the blood flow to your brain. It is important to figure out why this is happening to you. You might be anemic, it can happen from medications you are on, from not having adequate nutrition, from having a neurological disorder, and from many other conditions. It is very important to have a complete medical workup for your symptoms and i advise that you see a doctor for testing. ...Read more
I have a 3 yr old son, he wasn't surcumsised, when will the head on the penis start to come out? I'm not sure what to do or what's going on, when i wash him he really complains that it hurts not sure what to do.
Be gentle: It is normal for an uncircumcised boy to have "phimosis" trapping the head of the penis within the foreskin. Aggressively retracting the foreskin to force the glans out or tearing at the adhesions can cause significant pain and lingering problems including recurrent adhesions. If he only complains when it is "washed" then leave it alone. If he complains at other times, then see your md. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
