My recent blood test determined my TSH was 5.35 and my ft4 was 13.3. Is my doctor right to consider this normal? I feel awful.
Borderline low: I assume the ft4 is in "pmol/l". That level is normal. The TSH level is mildly high and suggests that your thyroid level may be slightly low overall. The vast majority of people with these readings will have no symptoms related to their thyroid. However, there are some people who are sensitive to even mildly low levels. You should have it repeated along with thyroid antibody (tpo, tg) levels. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Diet & exercise: Moderate exercise (about 30 minutes 5 times a week) reduces LDL cholesterol and raises HDL cholesterol. Smoking can lower HDL levels, so stop smoking if you do. Eat lots of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean sources of protein. Include monounsaturated fats in your diet- olive oil/canola oil. Moderate consumption of alcohol may also positively impact HDL levels. 1 glass of wine a day. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Confused my MD told me I need to lower my cholesterol. My ND told me that my cholesterol looks great and my HDL at 104 was awesome. Total 241 LDL 128?
Numbers are good : But not perfect. Total cholesterol goal is below 200. HDL goal above 60. And LDL below 100. Your HDL. Is great. LDL. Descent. And total is a little skewed because the HDL is so good. I would continue what you have been doing Overall the numbers are good. Just some fine tuning. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I am 44 years old and my gp said my blood pressure was high! my lower reading was 89! what is the ideal BP reading?
I am a 50 yr. old female. my doctors office called and left me a message on my phone saying my kidney function has gotten worse. I looked up my blood?
Unclear question: Not sure what your question is. If you're asking if they can tell how your kidney function is doing by checking your blood, then yes. Also, that msg they left is very general- please call back to clarify. It can be as simple as being dehydrated on the day they took your labs, so they want to recheck. Or one of your meds may be affecting your kidneys. Or your kidneys may be slowing down. ...Read more
