Yes: Congratulations on the weight loss and commitment to regular exercise! twenty-three pounds does not seem like a lot, but that depends on where you started. The fat layer in the body converts estrogen to other hormones, so conceivably, weight loss could change the ratio of hormones you're used to, and therefore affect your periods. Maybe just the exercise is putting your body into a new balance.

How long does period go after stopping medroxyprogesterone?

How long does period go after stopping medroxyprogesterone?

Varies: If your doctor gave you Progesterone because you haven't had a period in a few months, then I will tell patients to expect a "humdinger" that can last up to 2 weeks---after 10 days, I ask them to call me and may start birth control or other medication to get period to stop. Try not to go more than 3 months without a period (unless you are on the pill etc--then ok!).

Clarify with doctor: Clarify the doctor who prescribed the medication how you are supposed to be taking it. Progesterone is sometimes used to regulate cycles but one would not expect a cycle until you stop taking it.

Cycle: I wouldn't worry at this point. It may take several months to determine what your new cycle will be like off birth control pills. Continue to monitor your cycles like you are doing. The birth control hormones are all out of your body at this point. If no period in a week, I would recommend you check a pregnancy test if you have been sexually active this cycle.

Irregular menses: In your case it is likely the change in hormones from stopping the BCP. This should straighten itself out in 3-6 months, if it does not and you are not pregnant then you need to FU with your GYN to find the cause.

Wait 7 days: Withdrawal bleeding after taking progesterone can take up to a week to start. If no bleeding after 7 days a follow up appointment with a physician is recommended. And treatment for irregular menses should also be started
