The last 4months I used my bc pills to skip periods. I took the inactive pills this month and my period is longer than normal. Why?wil it level out?

This is normal: When you took the birth control pills continuously for 4 months, you had extra hormonal stimulation to the lining of your uterus. It is not unusual to have a heavier period. It will straighten itself out if you keep taking the inactive pills monthly. ...Read more

Menstrual Cycle (Definition)

The menstrual cycle begins with the shedding of the uterine lining, resulting in bleeding from the vagina. A few weeks later, one ovary releases an egg and the uterine lining thickens in preparation for a potential pregnancy. Pregnancy can occur at this stage if sperm fertilizes the egg. What could cause my period to be longer than normal?

Can stress be a cause of my period to be longer than normal?

Can stress be a cause of my period to be longer than normal?

Certainly: Stress, lack of sleep, changes in diet or weight, prescription meds are just a few things that can alter your delicate hormone balance. This alteration can lead to a heavy, light, early, late, or skipped period. As long as the abnormal periods normalize in the next month or two, then nothing is wrong. Otherwise, if any other symptoms are present, see your doctor who can run some tests. GoodLuck ...Read more

Could I be pregnant if my period early and is longer than normal ?

Could I be pregnant if my period early and is longer than normal ?

Probably not, but...: A urine pregnancy test, gives a reliable result 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have occurred), 1 week after missing a period, or 1 week after starting a "weird" period. If done sooner, a positive result is likely real, but a negative result may be due to testing too soon, and thus lead to a repeat test. If a woman gets her normal regular period, then she is not pregnant. ...Read more

What are the chances i would get pregnant a few days before I am expected to start my period? My cycle is longer than normal; 32-36 days.

What are the chances i would get pregnant a few days before I am expected to start my period? My cycle is longer than normal; 32-36 days.

Difficult to calc: This question.... A % of risk that you're asking. It's impossible to give you a specific number. It is low right before you're period, but it isn't zero. And fact that your periods are longer makes risk a bit higher. How about if don't want to be pregnant that you see a health care provider for birth control given that you're 16. Protection against stds in addition to pregnancy! good luck. ...Read more

I had unprotected sex and started my period the next day(4 days early)& then 2 days later took plan B, my period has been longer than usual, normal?

Probably: Plan B involves use of hormones for suppression of pregnancy. Bleeding when withdrawing hormones, like in a regular birth control pill cycle, is usually what occurs and may be heavier since Plan B has a higher dose of hormone than low dose birth control pills. ...Read more

I could possibly have low iron it runs in my family my period has been longer this month than normal 7+days no pain & very little clots. Whats wrong?

Maybe one-time thing: Maybe it's just a one-time symptom. Many women have occasional variation of their mucus discharge, some spotting between periods, a heavier period, a lighter period, or even a missed period. Having one or two of these symptoms doesn’t necessarily mean there is a medical problem, but a visit to one’s primary care or ob-gyn doctor is a good idea if symptoms are persistent, recurring, or worrisome. ...Read more
