Presume not pregnant: A woman can presume she is not pregnant if she has a normal menstrual period and has no symptoms of pregnancy. She can do a urine pregnancy test if she is worried. The test is accurate if done correctly, 1 week after a missed period or 3 weeks after having sex. Pregnancy tests are inexpensive and are sold in stores everywhere. ...Read more

Menstrual Cycle (Definition)

The menstrual cycle begins with the shedding of the uterine lining, resulting in bleeding from the vagina. A few weeks later, one ovary releases an egg and the uterine lining thickens in preparation for a potential pregnancy. Pregnancy can occur at this stage if sperm fertilizes the egg. If the egg is not fertilized, the egg will leave your body and ...Read more

Home pregnancy tests are very accurate.: They are the same tests used in a doctors office. They can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. The best time to take one is when you miss your period.  if you doubt the result you can repeat it in 1-2 days. If you were pregnant the hormone level would rise enough for detection. ...Read more

Period came on time for the past 4 months had unprotected sex now period a week late but negative pregnancy test. Could I still be pregnant?

Tests are accurate: Home pregnancy tests are very accurate and not affected by foods, herbs, common illnesses, sexually transmitted diseases, or medications. A correctly done urine test gives a reliable result 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have happened) or 1 week after missing a period. If done sooner, a positive result is likely real, but a negative result may be due to testing too soon. ...Read more

It: It is true that a missed or light period could indicate pregnancy.

As doctors, the first thing we do when we hear a woman is having a light or missed period or abnormal spotting, we check a pregnancy test. You can either take a home pregnancy test as long as it has been 5- 6 weeks since your last normal period, or you can go see your doctor and they can test you. A home pregnancy test is 97% accurate if taken a week or more after the missed period. A blood test can tell if you are pregnant as soon as 7 days after conception and a doctor's urine pregnancy test can tell if you are pregnant around when you next period should come.

There are other reasons besides pregnancy that can cause a woman to miss a period such as: stress, illness, diet, excessive exercise or a hormone imbalance such as with a thyroid disorder or poly cystic ovarian syndrome. If your pregnancy test is negative and you continue to not have your period, you should contact your doctor. ...Read more

My period came 3 days late! My cycle always been 28 always on time never late but just this time. Never had a 31 cycle. Can I still be pregnant?

Late period: It's hard to say why it happens, but sometimes we are just late for our period. Even if it's never happened to you before, it could be happening now. Things like medications, stress, travel, changes in your weight, can all cause a late period. If your pregnancy test is negative, and your last sex was more than 14 days ago, then pregnancy is very unlikely. ...Read more

See below: If a correctly done pregnancy test is negative 36 days after the last episode of sex, you are not pregnant. Menstrual irregularities are not uncommon and anovulatory cycle is a common cause. If you miss more than two periods it would be time to see your doctor. What does that mean? I'm very confused could I still be pregnant even though my period came on 11 days later

Check a HPT: Home pregnancy tests are easy to do, fast, and highly accurate. Virtually all women experience some irregularity of the menstrual cycle during their productive years. Many have some bleeding during first couple of months of pregnancy and so thinking they are not pregnant. I suggest checking a hpt. If negative, it may just mean you were late this time. Repeat in 5-7 days to make sure. Good luck. ...Read more

Pregnancy (Definition)

When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more
