Could be normal: The timing of a period does not always appear on time and is influenced by many things from emotions, illness etc. If you are sexually active and use birth control pills I would not be overly concerned, but if the cramps continue it would be wise to make an appointment with your OB/GYN

Menstrual Cycle (Definition)

The menstrual cycle begins with the shedding of the uterine lining, resulting in bleeding from the vagina. A few weeks later, one ovary releases an egg and the uterine lining thickens in preparation for a potential pregnancy. Pregnancy can occur at this stage if sperm fertilizes the egg. If the egg is not fertilized, the egg will leave your body and ...Read more

Hormonal imbalance: Menstrual irregularities are not uncommon and anovulatory cycle is a common cause. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time. Diagnose The Cause: First you must find out the cause of the problem (most likely an infection) and then the treatment will take care of the problem and the pain.

Possibly pregnant?: What signs of pregnancy do you have? Pregnancy is always possible from unprotected sex. Pregnancy test results depend on when you take the test. It could be negative if taken too soon after a missed period, and needs to be repeated later. Your doctor can do a serum test which could give valid results a little sooner.

I have been having sexual intercourse and my period came a week late but I do not feel my normal monthly period symptoms. Can I be pregnant?

It is possible: My guess is probably not, but it is quite possible to have what seems to be a normal period early in pregnancy and have a perfectly normal pregnancy. Home pregnancy tests are readily available, accurate, and should be positive if you do happen to be pregnant.

My period came a week late, and it's a lot lighter than usual. I also got a big blood clot, 2 in wide and 1 in thick, could I have been pregnant?

My period came a week late, and it's a lot lighter than usual. I also got a big blood clot, 2 in wide and 1 in thick, could I have been pregnant?

Maybe not, but...: Pregnancy is the most common cause of a missed period. If not pregnant, other causes of a late or missed period include: excessive weight loss or weight gain, increased exercising, emotional stress, having an illness, traveling, medicines (especially birth control pills), hormonal disorders, etc… a visit to one’s ob-gyn doctor is a good idea if symptoms are persistent, recurring, or worrisome.

Take the test: If you want to know if you are pregnant, take a test. In today's world you do not need to wonder if you are pregnant or not based on symptoms. Pregnancy tests are available at any pharmacy and in minutes you will have your answer. They can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. The best time to take one is when you miss your period.

Irregular menses: There is a wide variety of reasons to have irregular vaginal bleeding, including pregnancy. Have you done a pregnancy test? If not, then that would be a good place to start. Is anything happening in your life? Increased stress, weight loss, weight gain, infections, chronic illness...again the list is long. You do not mention age but if older could be headed towards menopause.

My period came 1 week late last month. When should it come this month? It has been like clockwork starting on the 5th of every month and ending on the 9th. Last month it didn't start till the 13th and ended on the 17th.

There: There are many reasons why a woman's period would be off a little one month. They could have had a particularly stressful month. They could have had an illness. They could also have been pregnant. One study showed that 50% of women who are at risk for pregnancy in a given month actually do get pregnant but have a miscarriage so early that it is perceived as a normal period or just a few days late. If a woman is not pregnant and has a longer cycle than normal, most of the time they will reset their cycle starting from that date. In other words, if your period normally starts around the 5th and it came on the 13th, then next month it will come around the 13th. Hope that helps!

I have had implanon for one year and my period came one week late last month. I am two weeks late so far this month.

Common: Nexplanon/Implanon is a highly effective implantable contraceptive. Effective for 3 years. Most common side effect is irregular periods in about 25% of users. Can range from no periods to daily bleeding or spotting. Breakthrough bleeding can be treated with birth control pills or estrogen but the bleeding often recurs. Weight changes, usually gain, can occur. Mood changes are not uncommon.

It happens sometimes: In a woman with regular periods, some causes of a late period include: excessive weight loss or weight gain, increased exercising, emotional stress, having an illness, traveling, medicines (like birth control pills), hormonal imbalances, etc… Seeing a doctor is a good idea if symptoms are persistent, recurring, or worrisome.

Take a test: Irregular periods are one of the most common problems obgyns treat. If this is one time problem it usually resolves on its own. If this is a recurring problem you should be evaluated. Infections ; hormonal changes can cause spotting. If there is a concern for pregnancy then do a home pregnancy test. There are many options available to help regulate the menstrual cycle. Schedule a visit.

Take pregnancy test: Many women go through times when their cycles are not regular, or when their bleeding looks a little different than usual (brown spotting, lighter or heavier flow). This may be normal, but, if you are not using contraception, then you may be pregnant. Some women get spotting or vaginal bleeding even when pregnant. So to be sure, go take a home pregnancy test. It is quick, reliable and inexpensive.

Check a test: If you are concerned you may be pregnant then check a home pregnancy test. It seems highly unlikely since you are having more frequent periods instead of a lack of periods. There are many birth control options which will help control your menstrual cycle and decrease menstrual irregularity.

It's: It's less likely you are pregnant since your period came, but it is still a possibility. The only way to know if you are pregnant is to take a pregnancy test. You can either take a home pregnancy test as long as it has been 5- 6 weeks since your last normal period, or you can go see your doctor and they can test you - whichever is easier for you. A home pregnancy test is 97% accurate if taken a week or more after the missed period. A blood test can tell if you are pregnant as soon as 7 days after conception and a doctor's urine pregnancy test can tell if you are pregnant around when you next period should come.

Definitely could be: Withdrawal is a very poor method of contraception since you have to say no when your body says go and the highest concentration of sperm is in the first ejaculatory impulse ("precum"). You need to do a pregnancy test and, if it is negative, begin a reliable method of contraception and use condoms to decrease the risk of STDs. Be safe.
