Hypoglycemia: Insulinoma is extremely rare, but usually not a hard diagnosis to make once it is suspected. The blood sugar and insulin levels must be done fasting. Insulinoma or Cyst?: These are 2 different entities. Cysts are typically fluid filled benign growths that rarely require any intervention unless they are growing. Insulinoma is more serious as it is a solid tumor/growth which produces excess of Insulin which can cause serious problems due to low blood sugar levels(hypoglycemia). They Don't Have Too: What you are describing is more consistent with reactive hypoglycemia, it is a bit more controversial and does not have set dx criteria. It is more a clinical dx based on the doctors eval, labs as support & tx response helpful. Low risk: If you had a normal sugar (100) and this happened after a meal and some work, it is more likely something in your meal triggered excessive Insulin release.
