My Pap Test Was Reported As A False Negative What Does That Mean
If i take azithromycin 3 days before getting a pap test will that make chlamydia come up as a false negative due to the antibiotic in my system?
Yes, possibly: Chlamydia tests usually remain positive for several days after treatment, but it might turn negative as soon as 3 days. Unless the azithromycin treatment is urgent, best to delay treatment until the chlamydia test is done. Or speak with the doctor or clinic about self collecting your chlamydia test now (vaginal swab or urine). The specimen will still be good if kept in a refrigerator for 3 days. ...Read more
When HPV leaves the body & Pap test is negative, does it mean it's 100% gone? Or is it dormant? How is detected and assured that it's gone completely?
Could fingering (finger sex) the day before a pap smear cause false negative results? I.E. Cause it to show normal when actually abnormal
No effect on test: The pap smear takes cell samples from your cervix, which is the bottom part of the uterus. Any debris in the vagina is separate from the inner canal of the cervix. If you still have concerns, please speak honestly with the gynecologist / primary care doctor performing this exam. He /she will work to answer questions and give you great healthcare. Good luck. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Testing for HPV: Yes, a normal pap does not mean that you do not have hpv. Ideally all pap smears would test the cervical sample for all abnormalities including infections and viruses. Most pap smear analysis is screened only for "high grade" hpv types. A negative pap might have a low-risk hpv infection or the sample might have not been sufficient.
