My Newborn Has Not Pooped Since I Switch To Breast Milk What Should I Do
Probably OK: Breast milk is better digested than formula. At 3-4 wks of age breast fed babies may have a decrease in frequency of poops to every few days. Switching between breast and bottle can contribute to variation in frequency and character of poop. If your baby is eating well, belly is soft, and s/he is not fussy/irritable/crying more than usual it's probably fine. If you are worried, see your doctor. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

My breast milk is pink. I have been pumping. My baby is 2 months old and i haven't seen this before. What should I do?
Sore nipples?: I suspect the pink tinge in the milk is due to some blood in the milk. This most commonly happens if you have cracked/sore nipples. When the baby feed or you pump, there can then be some minor bleeding. Lanolin on the nipples may help, as may turning down the suction on the pumping device a bit. If these don't help, contact a lactation specialist or your doc for assistance and evaluation. ...Read more

My boy is 3monthold, i was breastfeding and bottlefeeding him all3 month, now I have to quit breastfeeiding because I have to work, how bad it will be?
Infant feeding: You don't have to quit nursing your baby just because you're going back to work. It is best to continue nursing your baby if at all possible. What should I do if I have THC in my breast milk? I want to continue feeding my almost 3 month old but horribly regret my decision of smoking
Pump and dump: If anyone believes that their breast milk has been tainted by a substance/drug/alcohol, the best advice is to pump the milk and throw it out. This will allow continued production of milk. If no more smoking occurs and this was a one-time mistake, it should clear the body in 24 hours. Good luck on staying clean for you and your baby! ...Read more

Not sure if i could produce milk since i have a small breast. But i reli want to breastfeed my upcoming baby.. what can i do?..
Give it a try: Some of my most successful breastfeeding moms would be classified by some as least likely to suceed if judged by their breast size. One has contributed to the local bank for premi's since her she makes far more than her healty newborn can drink. Motivation, diet and patience will go a long way toward success in this area. (along with a good lactation coach). ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I breastfeed and bottle feed but yesterday I smoked, how will it effect my baby if I were to breast feed her?
SLight symptoms: She may be a bit jittery and may spit up a bit more, making her a bit more fussy from the nicotine exposure. That being said, breast is still the best food source for your child. Please try to decrease or stop smoking while nursing. Thanks for trying to feed your baby the best way. ...Read more
I had my baby 5 months ago i choose not to brestfeed and i still seem to have milk in my breast when will it dry up?
My kud is 5 month old as I have started my job I was not able to breast feed him. twice a day I feed him. now he is 7.7kg .I want to increase my milk?
Increasing milk: There are several essentials when trying to increase milk supply. First, this is supply and demand, so as often as you can put baby to breast and/or pump when your not working, the better. Drink TONS of fluid - try to get at least 100 ounces a day. Then Google the word galactogogue - these are natural substances you can get in your diet that will help boost milk supply. GOOD LUCK! ...Read more
My 3 wk old spits out milk a lot. is that normal? if not then what can I do to stop that? im breastfeeding and giving formula.
Reflux: It can be normal for a 3 week old to spit up. As long as pt is not fussy with spitting and pt is gaining weight this can be normal. This is probably gastroesophageal reflux. Tends to worsen after about a month of age. You can keep pt in an elevated position after feedings for 30 minutes. Breastfed babies tend to spit up less. You can also try to exclusively breastfeed ...Read more
What to do if I have a 4 day old infant, that I am breast and bottle feed. How can I completely empty the milk in my breast?
Breastfeeding: If you have enough milk to exclusively breast feed no bottle feeding is needed. In 15 minutes of sucking the baby will empty the breast. If he/she is satisfied with only nursing on one side you can pump the other side and freeze it for future use. Pumping does not completely empty the breast like the suction from a baby but a good pump will do ok. ...Read more
What do you recommend if I gave birth to my son 4 days back. but I am not able to feed him nurse are saying milk is generated even my son is sucking?
What to look for: Breast feeding is best, but it's not always easy. It's not easy to assess how much breast milk your son is getting unless you're pumping & bottle feeding. If he's having at least 4 wet diapers/day, not jaundiced (yellow-orange) & isn't losing too much weight (>10% of birth wt), then he's getting enough. See your Pediatrician tmrw for a wt chk & exam. Consider a lactation consult. ...Read more
My baby is7 weeks old.She was taking both breastfeeding and bottle due to insuffient breastmilk now she refuse my breast at all .What can I do please?
Lactation specialist: As long as your child is not sick, it may be because the milk is easier to obtain from the bottle. If you can tolerate it attempt to breastfeed first before supplement, put a little milk on your nipple to entice, or pump your own milk. Also stay well hydrated and eat healthy meals. Lactation nurses are great for this as well. ...Read more

I have my 3 mons old baby and bottle feeding . He's poop is watery green since saturday what shoul I do please help thnx?
My baby is 12 days old and I've been breastfeeding. I only have given him the bottle 3 times and now he doesnt want to drink any milk from my breasts.
Breast feeding: Does he latch on and have a good suck? breastfeeding is hard work 4 a newborn. Sometimes babies get "lazy" after a bottle - the holes in the nipple of the bottle provide a faster fluid flow then your own milk ducts. I would keep at it - allowing him time to latch on. If he's hungry he will suck - worst case scenario - you have to pump your breasts into a bottle. Keep trying ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
