Muscle: It is likely muscle bands / spasms from tension or injury or overuse. They rub over one another when rolling neck/shoulders. Can also be local fluid build up (same causes). Often improves w/massage and try cold compresses to area. If not improving, dr could rx med to help reduce spasm. ...Read more

Neck pain: Sounds like you are another of the thousands of victiims of acute torticollis i.e. wry neck. You are young, so it is very unlikely to be arthritis. IF You do not have any pain or weakness in your arms then you might try some neck mobility execises (many available on the internet) if this does not help then Medical Massage Therapy might be your answer ...Read more
