My Neck And Shoulders Always Hurt
I have had a pain in my left shoulder & neck for about 14 hrs. It is dull & hurts more if in certain positions. Could be heart related or sleep wrong?
Shoulder & neck pain: Your left shoulder and neck pain lasting 14 hours, dull and positional are unlikely to be cardiac, and more likely due to musculoskeletal as in sleeping wrong. But it would be virtually impossible to determine the cause based on your descriptions alone. If seriously concerned, please see a physician for evaluation and treatment. See specialists: Often times shoulder and neck pain can go together, meaning that you could not only have a pinched nerve in your neck, but also a legitimate shoulder problem. Shoulder pain does not radiate below the elbow. Any pain that you feel shoots down the arm to the fingers can be coming from the neck area. Read more
Cervical strain: Sound like you strained your right para-cervical muscles. Possibly from sleeping wrong or injury or heavy lifting. When these muscles are tense they can compress nerves that exit the neck to your shoulder and arm, causing radiating pain down shoulder. I recommend taking ibuprofen or naproxen, moist heat and a cervical pillow, along with neck massage, Seek medical attention if symptoms worsen. Read more
