I noticed my mom's upper jaw just behind the left ear is inflamed. She has head ache & couldn't raise left arm. No fever. Can swallow normally.?
Ear inflammation: The most common causes of redness and inflammation behind the ear are: skin infection, cysts (infected or inflamed), or infected lymph notes. There is no obvious way to relate this directly to your mother's complaint of inability to raise her left arm. If she truly is unable to lift her arm, then she should see a doctor to make sure she is not having a stroke. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

I hit my left temple pretty hard today on some wood and it had been hurting all day. I have a head ache and throbbing. It hurts when I chew ?
Head injury: If you can chew that is a good sign. Are your teeth OK? Unlikely a jaw fracture if that is OK, however, if symptoms are not improving in a couple days get checked. As far as head injury, if you did not pass out and as long as you are not on some blood thinner the headache can be treated with Tylenol (acetaminophen) and rest. If worsening headache, vomiting or you feel weak on one side get checked. ...Read more
