My left eye is quite nearsighted but my right eye is fine? Why?

Good luck: No good reason. But when you hit your 40's, you'll be grateful you can read with that eye without glasses. If this nearsightedness was not present when you were younger, then it's cataract. ...Read more

Hi doc, i want to ask whether lasik eye is dangerous or not? I have floaters and nearsighted. Left eye around 700 and right eye around 600. Thanks!

Hi doc, i want to ask whether lasik eye is dangerous or not? I have floaters and nearsighted. Left eye around 700 and right eye around 600. Thanks!

Usually safe: Lasik has a very low complication rate. You need to get a preop exam and testing of corneal thickness, curvature, tear film and production, corneal health, and other factors to make sure it is ok for you. I have successfully treated thousands of patients with your prescription. It will not get rid of your floaters. It should reduce or eliminate your dependence on glasses. Good luck! ...Read more

Sir, my sister is suffering from myopia. Left eye- "-6.5" and right eye - "-7 "... And is still getting weaker..Pls suggest something how to deal it?

Myopia: To some extent, myopia is inherited, but there is some research that suggests that the degree of myopia can be influenced by long periods of reading. Encourage her to take breaks every 30 minutes and look at something far away out the window for 30 seconds or more-- this will allow the eyes to relax their focus and perhaps may prevent further worsening of the eyes. ...Read more

Lasik l:0.5x-0.5, r: 0x-0.5. So left eye is over corrected, right eye is under corrected, right? 42 year old myopic before. Near vision bad in left.

Enhancement: If the over correction is bothering you enough you may want to consider an enhancement after your eye has stabilized. Realize that at age 42 is when presbyopia typically starts so even if corrected to plano you will still require reading glasses in the near futures. Hopefully, this was explained to you before the procedure. ...Read more

What to do if I have myopia(4.75 in right eye and 4.25in the left eye). What to do if I have a thin retina. am 25 yr old.?

Get a consult: See a retinal specialist to determine if you have any significant retinal issues. A "thin" retina does not really tell you very much about the health of your retina. There are plenty of excellent retinal specialists in the Boston area. ...Read more

What to do if I am currently have myopia left eye 175 right eye 200 and I don't have glasses, can I pass the meps vision test without glasses?

Possibly: Depends upon the nature of the DVD test and the diligence of the examiner. You have enough myopia that eyeglasses would be of help, especially in rain or at night when driving. Give it a try and you might pass but if not, then of course you will need to get spectacles. ...Read more

Post lasik , left eye +0.5 and -0.5 astig, right eye plano and -0.25 astig. Is this a poor outcome? Was myopic before surgery. Right eye poor distance

Great LASIK outcome: Rather than looking at your postoperative refraction, the question to ask is if you can see. The prescription of +0.50-0.50 is an insignificant and many with that will have 20/15 vision or better. Stop worrying and enjoy your great vision! ...Read more

Lasik results. Pre-op myopia. Left eye now +0.5, with -0.5 astig. Right eye -0.125 with slight astig. Right eye strains close up/distance. What to do?

It depends : How long ago did you have the surgery. You may need some time if you eyes will adjust post operatively. Because of asymmetry between the two eyes refraction you may have some eye strain. Your refraction is very minimal, the time may help with goos lubrication. If your symptom persist or get worse pls see your surgeon. ...Read more
