Pain in the leg can be caused by nerve pain from the back, in which case there is usually back pain, and the pain is worse with walking and standing. Pain in the leg can be caused rarely by blood clots, in which case the pain is usually worse if the leg is down, and sometimes associated with swelling. Sometimes Pravachol (pravastatin) can cause muscle pain but that shouldn't be just in one leg. If a patient has new onset of leg pain that is persistent, they should have an evaluation by their physician. ...Read more

I received a full body massage yesterday and today my left calf muscle has a sore spot. Should i be worried?

Probably not: The masseuse probably bruised you. Watch the bruise over the next few days to make sure it begins to disappear. Treat leg not back: Treatment should only be based on pain levels and functional status, not on the anatomical/mri state of your spine. If the left calf pain is minor, then simply wait for it to fade. If it is troublesome, then physical therapy followed by epidural steroid injection are the options.
