INFLAMMATION: This sounds like mild inflammation of the supporting muscles and tendons of the patella (kneecap). Many causes are possible:if you are exercising- remember to warm up and cool down. Certainly simple passive flexion and extension of the knee will strengthen the quadriceps and supporting ligaments. I suggest massage with biofreeze. If not improving-orthopedics. ...Read more
Back of knee pain. When I put pressure on it there is a sharp pain in the back/middle of my knee. It also hurts to bend it. Is it just a sprain?
Maybe: It could be a strain, but could also be an injury to the articular cartilage (lining of the ends of the bone), meniscus (cartilage pad), or even a fracture. Hi. I have knee pain after I bend my knee and then extend it, and it also hurts whenever I play sports. Or put to much pressure on it? What do I have?
Hard to say: There are many moving parts in the knee. If you have a lot of swelling, it may mean you tore the meniscus, the padding between the tibia and femur, or you might have torn a ligament. But it could also be a minor contusion (bruising). You will not know unless you see an orthopedic doctor who will do an exam and may or may not order an MRI which is the best way of seeing looking inside the knee. ...Read more
