Got hit in kidney area about a week ago no bruise no blood in urine but still very sore to touch feels swollen. Anything to worry about?
Likely musculoskelet: The kidneys are very close to the lowest ribs (floating ribs) that could have a fracture which, if is the case, will take a few weeks to resolve. Of course, cannot rule out actual kidney bruise, however, lack of blood in urine is reassuring. It may be wise to see your primary care, if you haven't, to decide if the tender site is actually related to kidney position. ...Read more

See a doctor soon: Without more information, it is impossible to tell what is wrong - but your child needs to see a doctor soon (within the next few days) to exclude a potentially dangerous disease. Your doctor will likely start by examining your child and repeating the blood counts to make sure that other blood cells are normal. More studies may bee needed to determine how to best help your child. ...Read more

Bruise on my back where my kidney would be. What would cause this. I haven't hurt myself or been hit by anything?
Bruise there is probably not related with kidney itself. Instead, watch for possible low platelet count. This is just a guess for your age and described condition.

I've heard bruising can be a sign of kidney issues? Why is this? I'm always complaining of unexplained bruising & I have an undiagnosed kidney problem
Possible: The bruising that occurs with renal disease is a result of the build of of urea causing your platelets not to work properly. This is not the most common symptom of renal failure, and it takes quite a bit of uremia to cause bruising. A simple blood test can look at your blood urea, and see if this is a problem. ...Read more

No infection & no visible stones, painful back radiates 2 front which feels like bruised kidneys after wards. Starts 20m after salad lasts 3hrs?
Back and abd pain: If your docs have ruled out any kidney stone or bladder infection, i'd be curious if they checked your gallbladder for gallstones. I'd also be curious if they thought this could be from gastritis, an ulcer, or hiatal hernia. An ultrasound can help with looking for gallstones. H.Pylori testing and endoscopy could look for ulcers. A visit to a gastroenterologist might be helpful. Best of luck! ...Read more
I have upper middle back pain. It feels like a bruise. I was told a few weeks ago I have kidney stones an infection.
Here are some...: If you've been evaluated with detailed Hx, physical exam, and imaging studies, and reported having kidney stone, the diagnosis is correctly established. But note: the combination of intermittent pain and seeing rbc or wbc doesn't say you got infection. What can do for a bruised kidney? Having a lot of pain, cannot take NSAIDs and Tylenol isn’t helping much
Can see Dr. Again: With modern medications, a patient should be able to relieve the pain through working with her urologist, nephrologist, and pain management doctor. Doctors may want to re-scan the kidney if there is concern about tears in the kidney leaking blood and forming a hematoma (trapped blood), or leaking urine and forming a urinoma (trapped urine). Not much to do at home without seeing the doctor. ...Read more
A ceftriaxone injection was given to me for kidney inflation. The problem is that it gave me a bruise where they inject the antibiotic. What do I do?
Tincture of time: Bruising is a common side effect of a needle puncture. It does not imply any need for a change in the treatment for your kidney infection. Bruising can occur from any trauma, such as bumping your arm. If you can apply pressure and ice immediately, you can minimize the size of the bruise. If this is not done immediately, the bruising expands and will be absorbed over 5-7 days or longer. ...Read more
Kidney removed a week ago. No pain around wound, extreme bruising & pain on opp side on torso & leg. Ok walking but trouble sitting/lying down. Normal?
Post-op nephrectomy: If your pain and bruising is on the opposite side of the nephrectomy, I would be concerned for a possible retro peritoneal hematoma, essentially a bruise with a collection of blood that may take long to resorb. When you stand up there is less pressure on the nerves running through that space, you will feel it more sitting. Need to talk to your surgeon about this, esp. If you take blood thinners. ...Read more

Fell down stairs...: Injury of this kind requires an examination by a doctor, x-rays/scans as necessary and a close exam of your stomach, back and other areas, a simple urine test to check for blood...however, I strongly believe that sprained or broken ribs with the bruised intercostal muscles are the cause of your breathe-in pains...also, not surprisingly your tail bone (coccyx) may be hurting too... ...Read more
