I live in sanfrancisco. I am now visiting new england and the humidity is high. Suddenly my fingers ache and it feels arthritic. Humidity the cause?

Possibly yes: That's a good thought :) many people with mild arthritis can tell you when it will rain, snow, etc a few days before. The change in humidity and air pressure as weather systems come and go often cause joint pains. Tylenol (acetaminophen) or advil is often enough to control this. If it doesn't improve, worsens, or you get other symptoms (rash, fevers, etc) follow up with your doctor. ...Read more

Yesterday, i couldn't bend my thumb and today, every time i move my wrist too much, i get sharp pains where my thumb bone meets my index finger bone.

Yesterday, i couldn't bend my thumb and today, every time i move my wrist too much, i get sharp pains where my thumb bone meets my index finger bone.

Thumb pain: A couple of thoughts... It could be an overuse injury, a tendonitis, it could be a flare up of arthritis caused by a previous injury. In these situations, i usually try to first rest the hand - no trying to "test" it to see if it hurts, or do any lifting or repetitive motions. I take Ibuprofen and see how it goes over a day or two. If it's improving on it's own great, if not, i see my doc! ...Read more
