I recently attempted to move a heavy object using my head and sprained my neck. My neck hurt for a few hours but went away. Now when I turn my head a certain direction I feel tingling in the back of my head connecting down to my neck. What could this be?

Pinched nerve: Sounds like you have a cervical radiculopathy or a pinched nerve when you strained your neck you may have injured the muscles and irritated the nerve that comes off the side of your neck I would rest, use ice and nsaids see your doctor if it doesn't start to improve.

Probably a sprain: Most ankle injuries are muscle strains or ligament sprains and respond we to rest, ice and anti inflammatory medications. If you still have pain after 10 days I would recommend having it evaluated by a medical professional.

Snap, Crackle, Pop!: You might have a touch of arthritis in your neck that leads to that crunchy sound ('crepitations') in your neck when you twist it. That in turn could lead to some reactive muscle tightness. In some people it gets so bad it leads to a headache. Usually some x-rays help see if there's arthritis in there. The treatment involves medication, massage, range of motion exercises, proper posture and rest.

Tendon instability: If you are truly having a great deal of pain when this happens, this may be the result of the tendons in the back of the ankle (usually on the outside of the ankle) moving abnormally and sliding against the outside bone in your ankle (the fibula) abnormally. These tendons are called the peroneal tendons. This problem sometimes needs to be corrected surgically and should be evaluated by a doctor.

Family practice: You strained your neck muscles. Ice it ibuprofen. And possibly a muscle relaxant would be helpful. After a few days start flex exercises. Pt may help you get well faster.

Contusion: Sorry for your accident. After even a mild concussion do not do activities that can compromise your health and cause further head injury. Avoid tasks that require concentration or complicated thinking. Follow up appointments are very important. Also follow the advice of your health care provider. Be well.

After a neck sprain strain from a gym machine. I can't move 2right it hurts when I walk move my head to right when I sleep. Ice it? Rest it? Week off?

Yes: For a neck sprain after a workout, I do think it would be reasonable to try conservatively with time/observation, ice, anti-inflammatories, and gentle stretches/rom. If your symptoms are persistent after a week or two, or if the pain is really severe, or if there is associated radiation of the pain into your arm or weakness/numbness/tingling in your arm, then I would advise seeing a physician.

Could I have a concussion? Fell last week and sprained ankle, have had balance problems since. Noticed head is sore. Been sleeping a lot.

Could I have a concussion? Fell last week and sprained ankle, have had balance problems since. Noticed head is sore. Been sleeping a lot.

Yes: If you hit your head or had a rapid "whiplash" type mechanism during your fall, then you could have a concussion. Headache, fatigue, dizziness, balance problems, light & noise sensitivity, memory or concentration problems are the most common post-concussion symptoms. Brain & body rest are the keys to recovery in the first 1-2 weeks. No activities now that could result in another blow to the head.

Stiff: Small radial head fractures can be treated with a sling and early mobilization. You are at a high risk of stiffness developing. That stated a second opinion may set your mind to ease

I sprained my ankle a week ago, I feel no pain but now the skin under my ankle is turning blue.

I sprained my ankle a week ago, I feel no pain but now the skin under my ankle is turning blue.

Not uncommon: If you sprain your ankle, what usually occurs is there is a stretching or tearing of the ligaments involved. It is not unusual for this to be associated with some bleeding in the area that can later cause the area to develop a blue discoloration. If you have concern, don't hesitate to be seen.

Coban wrappd finger4 reinjury sprain. Used cream&did massage&stretch 1mth. Now skin looks crepy&dermal ridges seem stretched/enlarged. Permanent? What 2do

Unlikely Permanent: Coban was not designed to be used for more than a few minutes as a pressure dressing. Using it for several day (even an hour or several hours) could permanently damage the circulation and cause the loss of a finger. Since your finger has not been removed, the things you are notcing are unlikely to be permanent. Moisture or cream under the coban could cause the symptoms noted, bur will be normal.

Need workup: Neck pain which radiates must be diagnosed properly. No quick answer. An MRI may be helpful. The jaw must also alert to possible temporo mandibular joint injury.
