Proper Diagnosis: I am not sure if you've seen a specialist, but if not, may I suggest you see a gastroenetologist. You are never too young to have a serious illness (I'm not saying that you do). I've had two patients with colon cancer, both 31 yo. Rare, yes. Unheard of, no. There must be some excellent physicians in your locale who can find the cause of your symptoms and determine proper course of treatment. ...Read more
With your medical hx: I am thinking you probably are developing either carpal tunnel syndrome or pain from osteoarthritis, or maybe even both. The medications you take also can cause problems with elevated blood sugar which can cause neuropathy and/or tendonosis. So, you can't get a meaningful diagnosis via this forum, you need to see your doc, have an exam and plain films, maybe blood tests or an EMG. Please call 2day ...Read more
In pain my hands have started hurting since I've been working they hurt but at the same time they go num and they the pain starts hurting more
Numbness and tingling in the hands is most often associated with carpal tunnel syndrome, but can have a number of other causes. Nerves can be compressed or injured anywhere from the neck to the fingers. The pattern of numbness can help distinguish one cause from another. Carpal tunnel syndrome typically involved the thumb, index, and middle fingers, but not the small finger. Cubital tunnel syndrome tends to involve the small finger and part of the ring finger. Other conditions are ulnar hammer syndrome (pressure on the ulnar nerve at the wrist from an atery), radial tunnel syndrome, pronator syndrome, thoracic outlet syndrome, wartenberg's syndrome, and cervical radiculopathy.
Contrary to popular belief, most carpal tunnel syndrome is not definitely related to work and is often related to age, gender, weight, diabetes, thyroid problems, family history, or other factors. Work activities, however, do seem to bring out the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome or other causes of nerve compression.
You should see your primary care physician, a hand surgeon, or a neurologist to evaluate your symptoms. Early, mild cases can be managed with splints or therapy. More advanced cases, such as when the hands are constantly numb and/or the muscles are wasting, require surgical treatment. ...Read more
