Neuritic pain: Chemo damages nerves. They can die, recover fully, or partial recovery with dysesthesia. Gabapentin (neurontin) helps during recovery to reduce pain. Once recovery period is over medication rarely helps. You are well past recovery period. Gabapentin should not affect other meds. ...Read more

Hard to say: Depends on how long you were drinking for and how extensive of neuropathy you have. Sometimes it may not be reversible and sometimes it might be. Either way by stop drinking you took the right step and prevented further damage of your nerves. ...Read more

maybe nothing: If your neuropathy is manifesting as numbness, then that is a secondary effect of sensory malfunction. You just can't feel what you used to be able to feel because the nerves have been damage. Nothing is going to make that go away, because we don't know how to regenerate those nerves. Often people feel unpleasant feelings along with the numbness. Trying different medications is important. ...Read more

Peripheral neuro....: The most common is diabetic peripheral neuropathy but you need to discuss this with your doc and get a neurology consult if needed. There are several blood tests that need to be done if not done already. The neurologist may also need to do a MRI and Nerve Conduction Test to determine nerve velocities and try to determine the origin of the cause. Diabetes?: You don't mention your age or if you have diabetes - but if you do be concerned about your blood sugar control. Have a good exam and let the Dr diagnose the underlying condition(s) that might be better managed. It's a really good idea to nip this before pain or other problems. ...Read more

What is the best thing to do for numbness in my feet due to neuropathy?  Take lipoic acid, ALC, metanx, Gabapentin and CoQ10.  Exercise vigorously.

Neuropathy: The treatment of sensory neuropathy will depend on the cause of the neuropathy. In case of diabetes the best treatment is weight loss plus adequate blood sugar control. Avoid medications or substances that can worsen the neuropathy (ie. Alcohol). Medications like gabapentin, Pregabalin or duloxetine help to reduce pain but do not improve sensation.
