My entire left arm all the way to my fingers has been numb for three days, why?

Hard to know: More information is needed to cover all possibilities. Perhaps most likely is a nerve entrapment. Other common issues are vascular flow or medication side effects. A reason to seek emergent care would be noticeable discoloration anywhere and particularly at the tips of the fingers. Schedule an appointment for an exam. Read more

Worrisome; TooLittle: Information to offer any reasonable, much less reliable answer. Perception of "numb" varies widely; reason physicians ask lots of questions about issues related to diseases affecting neurologic function for background plus also perform simple tests, e.g. comparing the person's perception of stimuli in "numb" vs. Other areas, e.g, vibration, pin-prick, ability to distinguish pin spacing, etc. Read more

The tip of my index finger has been numb and tingling for the past three days now--what could it be?

The tip of my index finger has been numb and tingling for the past three days now--what could it be?

Pressure symptoms: Mainly the symptoms will occur from compression of digital nerve (finger nerve), or possibly median nerve at wrist. Because symptoms are so localized, problems localized to finger are most likely. Small arteries to finger might be compromised. Local trauma to the tip is frequent in certain jobs or hobbies (or even abusing your remote control). Read more

For four days I've woken up with sharp pain and numbness on the back right side of my head. One day I even had numbness on one of my left fingers?

Get checked: The back of the head on the right and the left hand are not innervated by the same nerve, so it is unlikely that you have a pinched nerve. You should see a neurologist. Migraines can occasionally cause sensory symptoms such as hand numbness. Read more

I am experiencing finger numbness in my right pointer finger for two days now. It happened after an art project with using an Xacto knife to cut.?

I am experiencing finger numbness in my right pointer finger for two days now. It happened after an art project with using an Xacto knife to cut.?

It should resolve: Hello Lauren. Assuming you didn't actually cut the finger with an Xacto knife? The numbness is likely from compression of the digital nerves that exist at your fingertip. This likely started from the constant pressure on that fingertip making them "fall asleep". The nerve should wake up on its own. It may even 7-10days. Avoid putting pressure on that finger directly until it does. Read more

I was hold heavy grocery bags abd my finger tip got numb. Its been numb for 4 days should I go to a doctor?

I was hold heavy grocery bags abd my finger tip got numb. Its been numb for 4 days should I go to a doctor?

Maybe not yet: If the only fingers that are numb are those that were pulled tightly by the grocery bags, the cause is almost certainly the constriction of digital nerves by the weight. Most likely you will have a complete recovery of sensation in the fingers. I've had the very same thing happen to me (years ago)! I believe my numbness lasted for 1-2 weeks. If you see no improvement after 2 weeks, I'd get checked Read more

Contact your PCP righ away, or go to ER if it's happening now or urgent care, and get an EKG, BP again vitals, and monitor carefully! Check BP now. Don't delay! Read more
