Numbness in my heals on my feet, numbness/tingling in my thumbs and electric shock sensation in my arm. What is it?
Without knowing: Details about you as a patient its tough to give a definitive answer. The first thought that comes to my mind is neuropathy. If you have uncontrolled diabetes, then that would be one possible cause. The treatment would be aggresive blood sugar control and use of medications in the class of neurontin (gabapentin). See below: Guess I am confused, as to why you would have your symptoms tested by evoked potential study which is basically worthless if you have a peripheral nerve problem. (although may help diagnose a spinal cord problem). The more appropriate test could be an EMG nerve conduction study. I think you need to sit down with your doctor and ask some direct questions. You may speak to : Your pcp regarding calcium channel blockers or topical nitropaste or possibly even viagra (sildenafil) ( seriously ) or another long acting nitrate. Avoid caffeine, smoking and get some warm socks ( seriously) make sure you do not also have new onset of diabetes and peripheral neuropathy due to that or another issues such as thyroid disease or some neurological issue you are blaming it all on frostbite. ...Read more
