Maybe allergic: Make sure the melatonin you are taking was synthesized in a laboratory, vs being animal derived. Melatonin from animal sources may include contaminants that you might react to. Infection?: This sounds like an infection -- maybe cellulitis (infection in the skin) or perhaps deeper, i.e. inside the foot. Or possibly a form of arthritis. Any of these can be serious if not quickly diagnosed and treated, so see a doctor ASAP. Good luck. ...Read more
